DVD : Hercules: The Legendary Journeys - Season Three (REGION 1) (NTSC)
A lot of Hercules fans still consider Season 3 as one of the best. There are still lots of stand alone episodes at this point in the show, with plenty of twists on Greek/Roman mythology. The actors have really got into their roles by this point too and for the most part it all makes excellent entertainment.

The best episodes surround the Golden Hind arc of 3 episodes, dealing with a lot more serious issues than normal on the show.

As a DVD set, there are plenty of extras. A couple of excellent commentaries by Kevin Sorbo and Michael Hurst provide wonderful insights into the making of the show and into the whole process of making a TV show in general. There are some nice interview clips too.

DVD : Hercules: The Legendary Journeys - Season Five (REGION 1) (NTSC)
If you love the Hercules series and can play Region 1 DVDs then buy this set. Season Five was one of my personal favourite seasons, due the range of mythologies covered and bold stories and direction the show decided to take.

This box set is full of extras, such as interviews and audio commentaries by Michael Hurst and Kevin Sorbo and some of the writers etc. There are a couple of featurettes and also a CD-ROM disc with biographies and show info.

I have to say the real highlight in the extras HAS to be the audio commentary that Kevin Sorbo and Michael Hurst do for the episode "For Those Of You Just Joining Us". It is hilarious and the funniest commentary I've ever heard, it makes the box set worth it for that alone!!!

Absolutly amazing. I bought this being a huge fan of the show already and couldn't wait to watch the series again. This one has everything comedy (Salmoneus and Atolycus in drag) to tragedy (the death of Hercules' mother) to Hercules becoming a full god and showing all the gods what hes really like. A must have for all fan and for anyone who just wants compelling viewing

DVD : Hercules: The Legendary Journeys - Season Two (REGION 1) (NTSC)
The second season of the adventures of everyone's favourite half-god continues in much the same vein and at the same pace as the previous one, with Hercules and Iolaus battling gods, monsters and the occasional warlord in their usual, lighthearted way.
It's also nice to see some (albeit heavily amended) original stories from ancient Greek myth popping up, in episodes such as 'The Apple' and 'The Other Side', as well as some storylines of what would have happened after the original myth ended, like in 'All That Glitters', where we see how King Midas ended up, and 'Once A Hero' with a reunion of the Argonauts as they reprise their quest for the Golden Fleece. And between battles, Hercules also finds the time to invent things like surfing ... Read More:

The final 8 episodes of Hercules are not the best you'll find from the show. There are some interesting concepts covered in episodes like "Be Deviled", "Love Amazon Style" and "City Of The Dead". There are a couple of good episodes, "Darkness Visible" and "Full Circle", and everything is geared towards being rounded off...but then really a weak episode like "Hercules, Tramps & Thieves" appears and doesn't do a character like Autolycus justice.

The extras are a little thin on the ground too. But commentary from Michael Hurst and Kevin Sorbo on a couple of the episodes is always welcome.

The show's "It's a Wrap" party footage and the Final Episode "Behind The Scenes" footage aren't that great. The content is wonderful...the ... Read More:

Hercules The Legendary Journeys Series finally lands on DVD and what a start.

Starting off with The King of Thieves this episode introduces a much loved character from the Hercules and Xena universe, Autolycus in the first of many episodes(fans of Bruce Campbell will know what I mean). The second episode adds Hercules to the old Midas story with the old friend of Hercs, the moneymaker Salmoneus. The last episode Whats in a Name is the when somebody has stolen Hercules Identity.

The DVD is of good quality and the picture and sound are excellent. The special features of Picture gallery and biography are nice but how about a doc or commentary for the next one. This is a good DVD that introduces some off the main characters of the ... Read More:
