When "Bad Girls" debuted in 1999, it hit the headlines, with newspaper coverage of the lesbian content, and the scene that makes this DVD, unlike all other series of this programme, rated 18 (that scene that makes this adult viewing only is where a prisoner is searched for the drugs she is carrying in an unpleasant way that is suggested rather than shown). In this first series, "Bad Girls" was meaningful and controversial. It did not shy away from the realities of prison life and was not the high-camp, high jinks fun it was to become by later series, but a genuinely gritty, hard-hitting drama about life inside, based on real women's experiences, and with a cast that was, in an effort to highlight the realism, deliberately largely unknown. I DEFENTLY RECOMEND THIS DVD!!!!!

The second series of Bad Girls is in my opinion more eventful and better than the first. The series in general is really great and is really interesting from start to finish.

This series really introduces the relationship between Helen Stewart and Nikki Wade and Fenner finally faces the consequences for cheating on his wife. AND we see a lot more of the best Bad Girls character Yvonne Atkins, who didn't appear to the end of the first series, so we didn't see much of her, though she was one of the main characters in the last episode.

This series introduces some new characters such as Karen Betts, who soon takes over as Wing Govoner, Di Barker, another officer who joins G-Wing, then there's new prisoners such as Shaz Wiley (doesn't appear ... Read More:

Bad girls has been fantastic viewing from the start, its no holds approach to life in prison is inspiring, and although we have lost almost all of our favourite characters, this series is no different. The fun kicks off with the discovery of Yvonne Atkins body, weeks after she was locked away beneath the prison. Investigations start into how she died, but viewers know that Jim Fenner wont be caught out. New girl on the block Natalie Buxton arrives, but is she as sweet and innocent as she seems? Officer Geeson's relationship with Kris Yates continues in an interesting storyline where she tries to convince her lover to appeal for release as they cant properly be together. Unfortunately this is all too familiar from the days of Helen and Nikki, when the same problem occured. ... Read More:

I'm a Bad Girls fan, and was dissapointed when I heard series 8 would be the final series of the lot. I was also used to watching Bad Girls every summer, which lasted nearly the whole season. It was strange not watching a new series in 2007, nor this year. This series I found quite dissapointing. Yeah I like this series, but it's not like what Bad Girls used to be. Perhaps it's because that there's only three characters left, that have been in Bad Girls since the very beginning (Sylvia Hollumby and the 2 Julies). Or it could be because that the storyline for this series mainly revolves around the relationship between the new G-wing governor Lou Stoke and another new character Dr Rowan Dunlop. The other series mainly revolved around certain prisoners, and stories involving the ... Read More:

maybe not as good as the other three series's but still addictive and entertaining viewing and a must for any dvd collection.my suggestion is always to buy the first box set of any series first regardless of the reviews as otherwise you will not be properly introduced to the characters before you are thrown into the story. watch it now!!

Well...it starts of REALLY good but slowly goes down hill from Episode 5. We see the return of original Bad Girl Shell Dockley...but she leaves after 4 episodes...which was pointless. Once she goes, the series goes down hill. The Yvonne and Colin relationship seemed to drag for AGES. The "Manipulative" Snowball falls apart this series. Denny doesn't get a proper storyline. Julie S' breast cancer storyline is so dragging.

It's not a very good series in all. But it starts of so good...you'd expect it to be the same. Once Shell goes...so does the fun.
