Having enjoyed Robot Wars when it was first broadcast, I decided on a whim to buy this and the other two DVDs in the Robot Wars Ultimate Warrior Collection. Each disk follows a common format. Presented by the robot builders themselves, we learn about the design, construction and evolution of each robot and get a chance to see their finest battles. Razer - Probably the best of the 3 disks. This video is really the VHS one on disk. Its not bad and there are some good battles but on the whole could have been improved. One failed to move and a second was disqualified. One problem is that they say that there are 10 countries represented - represented by the British Robots, out of the 16 in the competition, 11 were from Britain but were representing Cyprus and the Czech Republic. The format made the event long and this tournament wasnt as good as the other competitions

The presenting was good, the effects and production was amazing for the time but surely the star of the show was the fights. The concept was just incredible with some cool looking robots with great weapons busting each other apart. Everyone knew about how successful robots with flippers could be but you couldn't get past the raw satisfaction of something which literally tore its opponnent apart with a hammer or circular saw. And of course, each weak, the superior house robots remained an ever popular attraction as were the various traps in the arena. I am a big fan of the BBC's televsion series "Robot Wars", and so was quite looking forward to see the American "World Championships". I was also keen to see one of my personal favourites "Razor" in action again as this robot always promisies so much but always falls foul of incredible bad luck (Razor can eat a small car). Before watching the video, I called a few mates around to watch, and so there were a few of us gathered round to enjoy the fun. After watchig this video (several times now) I am happy to report that this video is fantastic, some of the robots are absolutely amazing, and it was very nice to see my favourite robot manage to not break down in the opening round!
