I was looking forward to this movie, this was one of the iconic books from my childhood. I have to say that I very much enjoyed it, however maybe not as much as the first film. The filming was excellent, with beautiful backdrops and surroundings, very good CGI and good acting. It's been so long since I read the books however, that I can't remember if this was faithful to the original though... will have to re-read them I think! The things that let it down for me were the comedy elements, the mouse-knights and alike fitted very much with a Disney film, however I thought that they were not necessary, and detracted from the story. Word of warning though, not sure if I would let very small children see it though as there is quite a lot of violent ... Read More:

I, like many people, am becoming a huge fan of Del Toro's work both in English and Spanish and having really enjoyed the first Hellboy was excited about seeing this sequel.

I saw it twice in the cinema, once in London in a special preview screening and again back at home on it's last night - and was completely bowled over both times. For someone like me who watched Ray Harryhausen creatures slugging it out on TV as a kid with his jaw open - this movie is a dream come true, Del Toro has just unlatched the top of his head and spilled his imagination onto celluloid and the result is amazing. I really liked the first one, but I love this one!

The reason I gave this review the title I did was because I can see that for some people ... Read More:

DVD : Casino Royale (2 Disc Collector's Edition) [2006]
A lot has been made of Casino Royale's new direction. Out with the nonsense, back to basics, enter James Bourne. Q is agreeably absent, and the nearest thing to Moneypenny is a control-room full of 20-something CSI wannabes. In cleaning up his act, however, Bond appears to have misplaced his licence to thrill.

That Casino Royale constitutes a 'back to basics' reincarnation (a 'reboot' of the Bond timeline, in comic-book argot) speaks volumes about how far the series had lost its way - sort of like a drunk waking up after a twenty-year bender and learning to put one foot in front of the other again. Like bourbon or vodka, pyrotechnics and body counts are kept firmly out of the repentant screenplay's reach. Nothing happens in Casino Royale that could ... Read More:

All the other reviews I have seen are by people who are either utterly fascinated by the movie, or who state their opinions on the different versions. Perhaps I stand out, but I don't really care about previous versions, and more importantly, did not find the film enjoyable at all.

I may be and outsider here: I didn't attempt to look at the theme, the execution or anything. I just rented a movie, hoping to be entertained and possibly given something to think about. And for entertainment purposes, this isn't very good unless you are actually into sci-fi. It's quite confusing, and the story wasn't very engaging. It might just be too heavy, and requires too much commitment for me to feel it was worth the attention on a friday night.

This is quite simply one of the greatest western's ever made.Brilliantly directed by Sergio Leone and with a fantastic soundtrack from Ennio Morricone,'Once Upon A Time In The West' seems to get better with each viewing. It is at times brutal, moving and comical and a tribute to the vision of Leone.Almost every scene involves something memorable. The fantastic opening sequence,Cheyenne sliding the lamp to illuminate Harmonica's face, the slaughter of the family by Frank, the list is endless.

Then there is the cast.Charles Bronson,Claudia Cardinale,Jason Robards and most memorably of all Henry Fonda. Each and every one of them excels in their respective roles and give depth to this wonderful movie. It runs at almost three hours and not one minute is wasted.Funnily ... Read More:

So where do i begin?
First things first; the movie itself is something remarkable and shows one of will smith's greatest and probably best performance he's done. From my opinion, if it weren't for him the movie would of probably been a bit rubbish.
When i first saw the film; i must admit, i didn't think much of it but when i watched it again, i was completely blown away. The way they captured the loneliness and sadness of Robert Neville's life is just incredible. When buying the film, just don't expect much of a blockbuster because this is not. Look at the film as how it was supposed to be... ...a one man show.
Now your probably wondering why i only gave it four stars. This is simply because the DVD was a big huge let down for me and also for fans of the film. For starters; ... Read More:

Whilst this probably isn't the best western ever made its certainly up there amongst the top flight. It was fortunately made a few years before 'A Fistful of Dollars', which changed westerns and what was expected from them.

Take the classic Kurosawa film 'Seven Samurai' (which is given its due in the opening credits) and reinvent it in the American west. Then add the staggeringly good cast of Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Eli Wallach, James Coburn and Robert Vaughan and what you have is a near perfect piece of Cinema. Some of these guys (like McQueen) were not the bigshots they would later become, but they are incredibly cool. Just a look is enough for these actors. For example, James Coburn hardly says a word throughout the film, and he has arguably the best scene - the ... Read More:

Why has nobody reviewed this series before? Winds of War, and its follow-on series War and Remembrance (unfortunately only available in region 1 coding) is the best war drama, and probably even the best dramatic series I've ever watched.
Superbly acted, brilliantly directed, historically accurate and faithful to the book, you will be riveted from start to the sad and moving ending.
Made for US television, was it ever shown on TV in this country? It's surprising if not as it is very pro-British.
Taking several years to film, in the late eighties, there is some loss of continuity between the two series, because some of the actors had to be changed. But it gets better as it goes on.

One of the best movies ever made, this has everything. The action is crisp, the situation powerful and the whole film delivers right across the board. If you haven't seen this, buy it immediately. You fool.
