I was looking forward to this movie, this was one of the iconic books from my childhood. I have to say that I very much enjoyed it, however maybe not as much as the first film. The filming was excellent, with beautiful backdrops and surroundings, very good CGI and good acting. It's been so long since I read the books however, that I can't remember if this was faithful to the original though... will have to re-read them I think! The things that let it down for me were the comedy elements, the mouse-knights and alike fitted very much with a Disney film, however I thought that they were not necessary, and detracted from the story. Word of warning though, not sure if I would let very small children see it though as there is quite a lot of violent ... Read More:

i understand what pixar and disney were trying to do - promote global issues in a way kids can understand however the ideas are very adult and i wouldnt recommend for kids.
BUT...........
this is a master piece for adults. it has humour, the love story, the real life threats and the general likability factor!! this is a special movie and the first of its kind!! a must see for adult disney fans as we can understand the impacts and the messages that are to advanced for a childrens film. in addition youll end up loving wall-e and wanting to take him home :)

I, like many people, am becoming a huge fan of Del Toro's work both in English and Spanish and having really enjoyed the first Hellboy was excited about seeing this sequel.

I saw it twice in the cinema, once in London in a special preview screening and again back at home on it's last night - and was completely bowled over both times. For someone like me who watched Ray Harryhausen creatures slugging it out on TV as a kid with his jaw open - this movie is a dream come true, Del Toro has just unlatched the top of his head and spilled his imagination onto celluloid and the result is amazing. I really liked the first one, but I love this one!

The reason I gave this review the title I did was because I can see that for some people ... Read More:

Although I am not the greatest Harry Potter fan in the world I have always enjoyed the film series and thankfully this film continues this trend. The Order of the Phoenix sees the dark lord Voldemort gathering his forces but with the Ministry of Magic refusing to acknowledge his return Harry and his friends must defy the Ministry in order to prepare for the coming war. Complicating matters is Ms Umbridge, the Ministry appointed Defence from the Dark Arts teacher, who is willing to do anything for the Ministry of Magic.

I haven't read any of the Potter books as yet and as such I cannot comment about how closely this film sticks to the book and I have heard mixed reports on the subject. Nevertheless I do feel that the film fits in very will with ... Read More:

The opening shot is of downtown New York City. Only these aren't normal buildings but towers of blocks of trash. WALL-E (voiced by beeps and Ben Burtt), our hero, is a glorified trash compactor who has made the mountains. As we follow him across the vast landscape, we learn that he is the last of his kind and that he is indeed on earth. Humans fled years ago because they bought into the commercialism of the Buy-n-Large stores that ruled the earth. The resulting garbage overran the planet.

But WALL-E is not a mindless robot. He is curious and collects bits and pieces of things that are still intact. At night, he takes these to his bunker where they are on display a la Ariel. His only companions are a cockroach and a video tape of Hello Dolly. ... Read More:

After watching the second X files film (which was a bit disappointing) I felt very nostalgic for the series which had spawned it. Only £65 or so on amazon, so that's about 30p per episode, plus you get the first feature film. Most people must know what the show is about, right? An x file is a case which has been deemed to be unsolvable by the FBI, usually because it has some sort of paranormal explanation which no normal agent will think about. Agent Fox Mulder set about investigating the X Files and became an expert in the paranormal, after coming to believe he witnessed his little sister being abducted by aliens. His partner is Dana Scully, who is assigned to work with him to use her scientific and medical background. Each episode usually starts off with a weird occurence, ... Read More:

All the other reviews I have seen are by people who are either utterly fascinated by the movie, or who state their opinions on the different versions. Perhaps I stand out, but I don't really care about previous versions, and more importantly, did not find the film enjoyable at all.

I may be and outsider here: I didn't attempt to look at the theme, the execution or anything. I just rented a movie, hoping to be entertained and possibly given something to think about. And for entertainment purposes, this isn't very good unless you are actually into sci-fi. It's quite confusing, and the story wasn't very engaging. It might just be too heavy, and requires too much commitment for me to feel it was worth the attention on a friday night.

Since its release I have heard and read mixed reviews mostly bad, these of course are from fans pissed off at the end of season 9! "The Truth" wasnt a very good or satisfying end to the series, as a hardcore fan I can certainly say. I suppose what people expected was something pretty damn spectacular here with this movie. We should expect that its the X Files for Peets sake. But many of the really cool episodes were written by writers other than Chris Carter, in fact I think you will find if you revise all your Box sets that the episodes written By Carter are the most lame. Kim Manners is working on Supernatural, Spotnitz is mostly on bigger movies while the rest are all over the board from CSI, Bones, the short lived 4400 right up to the new series of Fringe. I wasnt expecting anything ... Read More:

So where do i begin?
First things first; the movie itself is something remarkable and shows one of will smith's greatest and probably best performance he's done. From my opinion, if it weren't for him the movie would of probably been a bit rubbish.
When i first saw the film; i must admit, i didn't think much of it but when i watched it again, i was completely blown away. The way they captured the loneliness and sadness of Robert Neville's life is just incredible. When buying the film, just don't expect much of a blockbuster because this is not. Look at the film as how it was supposed to be... ...a one man show.
Now your probably wondering why i only gave it four stars. This is simply because the DVD was a big huge let down for me and also for fans of the film. For starters; there is ... Read More:

Special effects should be convincing, even when this was made, but relying on an upside down turned car and mashed tatties and dodgy miniatures spoils the story. As if aliens are going to travel all this way after kidnapping pilots and sailors just to have a jam session on top of a mountain with a hippy scientist and his organ. Like Jean Michel Jarre and ET having a duet. Its silly. Aliens also are supposed to be green and not like the ones here. Aliens are hardly going to visit us if this is what we think of them. Unless they are the For Mash Get Smash aliens which is where the mashed potato could actually mean something.
