This isn't a review of the film, which is excellent, what really annoyed me were the subtitles. They're completely out of sync with the dialogue, sometimes with a delay of a couple of seconds, which was really distracting and means that you often can't tell who's actually speaking. The subtitle even freezes for a couple of minutes half way through at the worst possible moment, completely distracting from what's going on. Such a shame for a film that's so technically perfect.

I watched The Exorcist 2 weeks ago and everyone I knew said it was terrifying so before watching I expected to get scared, well I didn't. I barely jumped.

I understand that The Exorcist scared the hell out of people when the film was released in 1973 as the special effects were advanced for the time, but now they look dated and there almost laughable.

I'm not saying The Exorcist isn't a good film because it is good but it's just weird, not scary.

This movie really wasn't great and I didn't really enjoy it as a movie. I really don't know what gave it it's fame today as a terrifying movie, because it's desperate attempts at being scary are laughable. People must have been scared a lot easier in the early 70s. I found this movie quite boring aswell, that was its problem, unlike most horror movies, it completely failed to grasp me.

A girl becomes posessed by the devil and her parents have become terrified of how obnoxious and truely hidious she has become so they call in two priests to perform an exorcism on her, but it doesn't seem to be having much of an effect on her.

The one good thing I can say about this movie is that it has great creepy music but I really don't feel ... Read More:

The original Amityville Horror is the ultimate in haunted house horror films, so I thought "how could they remake such a classic and make it work?", well I rented it this weekend and was pleasantly surprised that it was actually not a bad remake at all.

The story is about a family who gets murdered when one of them gets possessed and a year later a new family move in after getting the house cheaply because of its past. After just a day or so weird things start happening in the house such as blood dripping from the walls and taps, the young girl having a new imaginary friend, who is actually a ghost and strange noises coming from the basement.

Although it isn't as scary or as atmospheric as the original it still has enough jumpy moments ... Read More:

Fancy making your life shorter by wasting some time on this little gem of a film? Yes? - Then there is no hope for you I'm afraid; just give up now. If the answer is no - well thats different. I watched this on the tv on saturday night and this film is simply awful. It had potential with the story and settings but threw it all away with non existent acting. Poor poor directing. Mis casting of good actors and a completly ruined blance between humour and horror. It just ends up being neither. But hey dont just take my word for it. I watched this with four of my friends and two got up and left the front room in the middle. One left leaving me on my own 10 minutes before the end of the film. And me for my sins watched the ending and went to sleep feeling quite ... Read More:

There has been said enough about this truly magnificent movie, so I only want to post a technical remark.

I received the DVD yesterday and it works perfectly well on my Region 2 DVD player.

Interesting enough the movie started with Japanese language (Text and subtitles) activated, so I think it recognized the region settings of my player and switched automatically to Japanese (region 2).

Firstly, if you can't handle 70's sound/optical effects, sci-fi without explosions/lazer guns, or heroines that don't turn into sarah Conner-esque avengers by the final act, well you're not going to agree with my rating here.
For everyone else, I think there's a fair chance you might get something worth while out of Demon Seed.
A super computer gets too clever for it's own good, and escapes via a terminal into Julie Christie's fully automated, computerised home before the boffins can shut it down.
The ensuing events comprise a tense battle of wills and minds, with some gloriously strange special effects as the our AI antagonist continues to evolve in it's efforts to become flesh.
Intelligently written though slow burning, with a likeable, realistic protagonist ... Read More:
