This series continues with dark and serious mood that was in collection 6. No more Ms. Lemon and Capt. Hastings. If someone knows what happened to them please let me know as I miss them :) Among other things, I have noticed that Poirot seems to be more religious in later novels of Agatha Christie (as in Appointment With Death). But then with age, order and method are not the only tools for little grey cells....perhaps. I am sure fans of previous collections will love this collection as well.

I absolutely wanted to own the episode entitled 'taken by the flood' in which Elliot Cowan manages the feat of playing the most attractive ,charismatic and frightening villain that ever existed.How his character can fascinate and repulse at the same time is incredible!Cowan does it with a nonchalance and an aplomb that is not to be found in an average actor.The other episodes, although not as good, are very entertaining nonetheless and shot with such lavish spendour that they are a joy to watch. Added to this is the masterful performance of David Suchet who wears Poirot like a second skin.Settings, costumes, performances, everything is first class, the only very slight problem being Suchet's English accent which can sometimes be heard when he ... Perfect casting, acting, continuity etc. Suchet and the rest are all perfectly cast. Drama done to perfection.

Agatha Christie's meticulous Belgian detective could never be better played than by Suchet and the settings and locations are brilliantly and carefully chosen for the right style and tone, even if some are (of necessity, because the real places have altered hugely since 1935!) not exactly like the particular locations as they are today. I am thinking particularly of the beautifully conjured-up Alexandria of 1935, which (apart from the nuisance factor of so many of the inhabitants) is very different today. I know that because back in 1998 I spent a month, of a several-months stay in Egypt, living in Alex. This box collection contains; The murder of Roger Ackroyd Lord Edgeware dies Murder in Mesopotamia Evil under the sun Five little pigs The hollow Sad Cypress Death on the Nile These were originally broadcast between 2000 and 2004. Some are better than others, however they are all beautifully shot and well acted. Suchet still shines as Poirot, and is a joy to watch.

This 3rd collection features the following; The last four episodes from series 3 (1991) The mystery of the Spanish chest The theft of the royal ruby The affair at the victory ball The mystery of Hunetr's Lodge The complete series 4 (1992) The ABC murders (part 1 and 2) Death in the clouds (part 1 and 2) One, two, buckle my shoe (part 1 and 2) These episodes show Suchet et al at their best. The script, acting and photography are nothing short of superb. The ABC murders and Death in the clouds being prime examples of drama done well.

I was hoping (like others) to be able to play this more than once with a different culprit. Unfortunately it will always be the same person (and once the game started I remembered quickly who did it) If when you play the game both teams guess wrong then my advice is don't let Poirot tell you, that way the game can be played again with the mystery intact However, the mix of puzzles and games are THE BEST I have seen. (I'm a fan of DVD games) and from end to end it should take a couple of hours or so. Though I did find when I played it a second time that a fair few questions are repeated (though none within a game) It is probably best to compare this to a murder mystery party 'kit'.
