I appreciate a movie studio who can give the audience a knowing wink while poking copious amounts of fun at itself. Disney delivers! The movie is both a parody of and a loving tribute to Disney movies. There's not a single dramatic convention or stereotype that doesn't get lampooned, yet the story has a lot of heart and you root for the characters. The songs are as fun as ever - kids will enjoy it as a basic fairytale, adults will laugh and smile as they recognise the clever jokes and references. Disney manage to bring an animated movie to the real world, as absurd as that is, but instead of falling flat on its face it shows us precisely why we have cartoons and the mirror they hold up for us - with a wink and a nudge! I'm not normally a fan of "family entertainment" or "fantasy" films ("Lord of the Rings" being an exception.) Even the thought of sitting through Harry Potter (I had to turn it off after 10 minutes) bores me. However, when I saw that Danes, De Niro and Pfeiffer were starring in "Stardust", I decided to give it a go. From beginning to end, it was a delight. I won't go into details about the plot, that's been written about enough. One of the great pleasures of the film is the light hand with which it is handled without ever diminishing the intensity of the various aspects of the story: the romance, the evil, the adventure. This movie is an unimaginative, disjointed, incomprehensible waste of time. Very poorly edited, it's a real botched version of Pullman's story which is itself far, far less 'special' than most Amazon reviewers would have you believe. If my child was entertained by this dross, I'd be concerned! I'm just glad I didn't pay to see it.

Be warned this film is hardly anything like the Spiderwick Chronicles books.My son and I have read all the Spiderwick Chronicles and we found this screen adaptation very disappointing. Where's the dwarves, elves, dragons , the palace of trash and the incident at the school where Jared first meets Mulgarath ? It seems to me that they tried to make the film as cheap as possible using mostly cgi, hence no dwarves and elves and tried to save money by using ,mainly one set (the house and the estate it's on). We also found the relationships of the characters had been changed. Why? There was nothing wrong with the supportive relationship between Jared, Simon and Mallory that they have in the books which you only see later on in the film. i was so happy to see this film. It was a poignant and breathtaking tale of a mythical creature - the water horse ' Caruso' and his secret friendship with Angus, the boy who discovered Caruso and brought him up from an egg. This lovely tale is set during the second world war and is even more emotional because of the sideline events which are also happening. A guaranteed heart churner, this is a lovely film for everyone.

As a straight 39-year-old man I was wary of watching High School Musical to say the least. However I really enjoyed it. Okay, it is an all smiling all dancing cheesy musical. And you can predict the storyline from the opening credits. But it is done in such a pleasant way that you probably won't be able to help yourself singing along, even if it is to yourself! The story is hardly groundbreaking. Boy meets girl on vacation. They click (singing a karaoke duet, of course) and, would you believe it, she is transferred to his High School. He's a top basketball player but has a secret desire to sing and dance. They try out for the school musical and the rest as they say is history, or at least a good laugh. The main problem with this film is that if you've seen the first then you've seen this one. There is no originality in the script at all which is a shame, because I would say that this film has just killed the franchise. Again Nicholas Cage takes the lead role of Ben Gates in this Tomb Raider type film. Once again Ben and his trusty sidekick Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) and girlfriend Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) are once again attempting to clear the name of his great grandfather - just like they did in the first film. In this one he (briefly) kidnaps the President rather than the Declaration of Independence, but once again they end up being chased around by the bad guys, while looking for the treasure that will prove his relatives innocence. I would give this book a five star rating because narnia is absolutely brilliant.whenever I read it I cat put it down that is how good C.S Lewis is.Also ,the drawing's init are excellent.woul recamend this book to people who like adventure stoies.Thebook is fiction and I also love it because it is in a fantacy would but it seams real at the same time.

This is exactly what you would expect of a "Chipmunk" film. Lots of hilarious slapstick humour, silly, but predictable storyline, plus the enigmatic, if somewhat over-egged Chipmunk voices. Storyline, of this mixed real film and CGI, is basically of an aspiring songwriter, struggling to write any kind of song, which is where Alvin, Theodore and Simon come in. From there the hilarities start and the predictable plot unwinds. Not really for "adults", but for all kids everywhere, this is a great film. We put it on in the car for the kids whilst we were driving on holiday, and there was blissful peace from the back, apart from the regular bouts of laughter.
