I appreciate a movie studio who can give the audience a knowing wink while poking copious amounts of fun at itself. Disney delivers! The movie is both a parody of and a loving tribute to Disney movies. There's not a single dramatic convention or stereotype that doesn't get lampooned, yet the story has a lot of heart and you root for the characters. The songs are as fun as ever - kids will enjoy it as a basic fairytale, adults will laugh and smile as they recognise the clever jokes and references. Disney manage to bring an animated movie to the real world, as absurd as that is, but instead of falling flat on its face it shows us precisely why we have cartoons and the mirror they hold up for us - with a wink and a nudge! What a refreshing change from the last few cheesy, old-fashioned, out-dated, badly scripted bonds. Hurrah for Daniel Craig, Jason bourne has nothing on you

The film was great to watch. Several songs were good and it was overall a enchanting film. The only let down was the ending but other then that it was a really good film.

I watched this film 'cold', without looking at trailers and reading reviews or 'the book'. So her is my lasting impression. The characters were excellent and the story moved through action sequences and general dialogue without a pre-set pattern so, in short, the viewer could be shocked at any moment. This was used to great effect in many scenes, to the benefit of the storyline, until the 'end' of the film. However, after watching almost everything there was to see, then getting ready for some sort of finale to answer a whole list of questions and discover the, 'who', 'what', 'where', 'when', 'why' of the whole film, we are suddenly greeted with the 'end credits'. I'm not normally a fan of "family entertainment" or "fantasy" films ("Lord of the Rings" being an exception.) Even the thought of sitting through Harry Potter (I had to turn it off after 10 minutes) bores me. However, when I saw that Danes, De Niro and Pfeiffer were starring in "Stardust", I decided to give it a go. From beginning to end, it was a delight. I won't go into details about the plot, that's been written about enough. One of the great pleasures of the film is the light hand with which it is handled without ever diminishing the intensity of the various aspects of the story: the romance, the evil, the adventure. I am a fan of the TV show, seen them all, so when I saw this in the sale had to give it a try. Some of the stuff in this is so outrageous that I am a little suprised it made it on DVD, but I am glad it did. Some of the stuff on this had me crying with laughter. A must purchase (unless you are easily offended!)

Absolutely brilliant adaptation and a great ensemble cast. I have to single out Eileen Atkins performance as the one which affected me most - the scene where she sits struggling with her ideas of convention as to whether she can attend the funeral in support of her friend is breathtakingly good - so much of what you understand is going on is not dialogue based but entirely down to her performance. More drama of this quality please.

Arial is the definitive Disney princess...who actually fights for what she believes in and remains a truely beautiful Disney creation. Sabastean = the most hilarious Disney character after Robin Williams Genie in Aladdin. Ursula is neck in neck with Sleeping Beauty's Melefacent as the ultimate Disney villain. a remarkable film and Disney at its most epic and beautiful best that in turn marked a new golden age of Disney animation. the astonishing Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin, and (my fave)The Lion King followed this masterpiece. simply amazing
