The review which indicates that this is a continuation of the Tokyo Bubblegum Crisis 2040 series but with different characters is completely incorrect. This is from the original Bubblegum Crisis series which was later remade with better funding and changed characters, plot-line and conclusion as BC 2040. There are widely ranging views as to whether the original or the remake is the better: certainly BC 2040 has greater cohesion and characterization, although the desire to produce a coherent and conclusive ending is not fully realized. In general, Japanese anime creators seem capable of weaving wonderfully convoluted and subtle plot-threads into the fabric of their animations, but rarely seem able to resolve these in a way which makes for a complete story.... ... This series is genius, an amazing remake of the original bubblegum crisis and can stand alone by its self. This carries on from the cliff hanger at the end of the first tape. And the series starts to delve into the dark histories of some of the characters.I would recommend getting all the tapes. So with high quality animation, a deep and thought provoking storyline and a true cyberpunk sound track, this is one of the best anime series ever.

This DVD is a very good buy. The story is quite simple compared to other noteable anime like akira or ghost in the shell, but this does not subtract from the film.

The dubbings dont match but its very hard to make japanese dubs because they don't use the same syntax as us. The english voices arn't great but they are ok for a dub. I recommend listening to the japanese with english subtitles its much more interesting and the songs are better.

One other negative point is that it may be rated a PG but really there are depictive (if quite short) scenes of nudity, so this isn't really that suitable for younger children.

If your New to anime i really do recommend starting with this, afterwards a good step would be patlabour, then moving on ... Read More:
