I actually bought this by accident after searching for Full Metal Alchemist, but this is great anyway! You can find plot synopses anywhere, so I'm just going to say that the animation and music is great, as is the story. It alternates between upbeat, comedy episodes with Sagura (the militarian hero of the series) trying unsuccessfully to fit with people from school, and action episodes which see him fighting against terrorists. It's balanced pretty well so that the story flows along smoothly, although I felt it dragged occasionally during some of the combat scenes. Following the events of the first Full Metal Panic series, this outing sees our main charcters return for a slightly unorthodox sequel. Instead of sticking to the same action packed style of the previous series, Fumoffu takes a less serious and more comedic tone throughout, making it seem more like a parody of a high school romance than a hard hitting mecha action anime. Hardcore fans may be put off by this, but I assure you that this series is absolutley hilarious and is just as enjoyable as its' predecessor. You just need to try and not take it too seriously. After finishing watching The Second Raid (TSR) around 20 minutes ago, I was left with a feeling of fulfilment anime rarely ever gives me these days. As an action series it's hard to fault: The action was enjoyable to watch, helped by the high production values, and it had a strong cast of characters that painted over the story simplicity. It did everything it needed to do right and ticked all my boxes, meeting my overly critical standards. This wasn't the case with the original FMP series, though. Back when I watched that I was left a bit underwhelmed by an experience I'd expected to be a lot more enjoyable than it turned out to be. I've seen missions 1 and 2 of this series so far, and so far have found it a little bit cliched in that its trying to be a regular high school adolescent comedy with some covert military mecha action on the side. Its quite funny but nothing you haven't seen before if you've seen shows like Tenchi Muyo or Evangelion. The animation quality is quite good with cleanly designed characters and the mecha fight scenes are very cool. Not the best anime you'll find but worth a look if your a devoted fan.
