The remastered Robotech saga's in one box!

What a joy I had when I heard that the Americanised version of Macross would undergo a positive facelift. This remastered edition included a new English vocal cast and the original voice of Lyn Minmei "Mari Iijima" as well as her Japanese songs are used. The original Japanese intro makes your hard beat faster Macross, Macross!

Also the original Japanese character names have been restored in honour and replaced the American ones, a good thing!:
Rick hunter - Hikaru Ichijyo
Lisa ??? - Misa Hayase
Lynn Kyle - Lynn Kaifun

After recieving the complete saga box set I Emediatly unwrapped the foil and put the first "remastered" dvd in my dvd ... Read More:

I bought this as it was cheap and had favourable reviews. I watched it and found a strictly by the numbers animated space adventure.
The animation is excellent and the use of CGI and cell-shaded animation works well, with the odd pencil/charcoal-drawn montage included too. However I found the story dull and uninvolving, and my attention wandered from time to time while I watched the film.
I don't recommend this film.

If you grew up watching Robotech, and the adventures of Lisa, Rick Hunter and Minmei then this is the box set for you. Or if you have never watched Robotech then this is a good way to start as it tells the first, and most interesting, part of the Robotech saga.

All of the original 36 episodes have been remastered so it actually looks better than the original TV series. The sound is sometimes a little bit up and down, but on the whole the 5.1 works really well.

There are minimal extras with this set, but the 6 DVDs will keep you entertained for quite a while, or if you are like me, exactly the amount of time it takes to watch 36 episodes back to back.

DVD : Robotech 2 - The Sentinels [1986]
It contains the episodes 1,2,3 from what was supposed to become Robotech 2 "the sentinels".
It would continue the saga of robotech and would connect the 3 sagas (Macross, The Masters, New Generation)
Unfortunatelly the project was abbandoned due to lack of money and so only the first 3 episodes where made. Never the less every roboteck fan must see them because they show some of the things that happened after the destruction of SDF-1 and 2. ex: rick marries liza, they build SDF-3, they go to the outer space to find the creators of the Zendraeti etc.
The drawing is different than the original robotech. this happened cause the original team was told to redraw the characters,(minmei, rick, lisa, etc) in order they would feat into the american ... Read More:

I was 14 when I watched this series after school and thought it was "Cool".

Now over 20+ years later I bought the first series, Robotech the Macross Saga. When I put the first disc from Robotech Vol. 1 in and watched it with my 13 year old son he said his first thought was, "Cool."

The whole idea of fighting a race of beings that are actually clones, and having space fighters that can turn into robots controlled by the pilots were great.

One thing that made it popular in the US was the fact many people refused to show cartoons where people get die in a battle. This did show that people died (While keeping it a G (or in UK a U) rating) in war and how the characters dealt with death.

They also showed how people ... Read More:

The only problem I have is I can't find Volume 2 in the UK or any where else in Europe. It was the final series in the Robotech series. Robotech is one of the Greatest Manga series' ever in my opinion.

The idea of a small band of Rebels fighting together to take back the earth from the evil Invid was great. If you can get volume 2 I would highly recommend it. Unfortunately I can't give more than a three star rating because the Region 2 version of Volume 2 can not be found.

I bought the first Robotech DVD with some trepidation. I knew it was a classic series loved by the fans but I wasn't sure if it would live up to my expectations, considering its age. I was however pleasantly surprised. Yes, the animation is far from cutting edge when compared with todays fare, but the combat scenes featuring the SDF 1, veritech fighters and the vast Zentradi space craft do still manage to impress and I admit feeling a certain amount of awe when watching these. Over all the series is perhaps a little dated (and rather Americanised), but don't let that put you off. The story line is excellent and shows surprising sophistication at times. This isn't simply about big mecha robots knocking lumps out of each other. It's also an intriguing story that keeps your ... Read More:
