I have never done pilates before and having read other reviews decided to purchase this dvd hoping for a good introduction to a pilates workout. And this is exactly what you'll get. If, like me, you're not a big fan of complicated dance routines done by a bunch of people in garish outfits whose 'ideal' bodies clearly have nothing to do with the exercise performed, you're gonna love this dvd. The exercises are shown in a slow and clear way by a friendly instructor - they are easy to follow even if you're doing it for the first time and effective from the first move. I am a beginner to Pilates and because of a lower back/hip problem, I had to ease off yoga and find an alternative and this has certainly worked for me. I've been practising this dvd for 2 months now and have noticed a marked difference in my torso - it is toned and stronger. The pace is slow but effective. I like the way you can work at Darcey's pace and never break out in a sweat! The music is calming and really quietens the mind. Having the exercises in sections is a good idea as you can focus on areas you want to if you're pushed for time. The style is not gimmicky and I like Darcey's style and instruction.

I was bought this DVD as I had a very bad back. I started using the first program and eventually worked my way up to being able to do all the programs. I lost weight and gained loads of core strength. It may not be true pilates (so I read) but it has done wonders for me and my back. I now use it to maintain my strength and supplement this with kickboxing (another 10 minute solutions) - something I never would have been able to achive before.

I have been using this dvd for a few months now. There are two programmes totalling around 35mins. Moves are well explained and easy to follow, good for beginners and those with a bit more experience. My only quibble, and the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is that, in the second workout, on a couple of occasions when Lucy says, 'try to repeat this (move) between 5 and 10 times' she barely gives enough time to do 2 or 3. In spite of this I wpuld still recommend it.

I love this exercise regime, it is sooooo good for loosening tight muscles and has really helped to ease my sore back after all that lifting and carrying of baby (now 12 weeks old). However, I was pretty fit beforehand and was halfway through a 10 week course of Pilates when I got pregnant, so I didn't find this DVD particularly challenging and was slightly disappointed when I found I could do the whole thing including the 4 - 6 month workout with ease almost straight after the birth. I have since bought some more difficult workout DVDs but still revisit Lindsey Jackson two or three times a week to help ease my tightened muscles and go through the relaxation exercises, which are brilliant. I've tried Pilates and Yoga DVDs before & have quickly got fed up with the new age music,, and have sometimes been unsure what they've wanted me to do. This is different - down-to-earth advice that you can use everyday, with simple instructions that are repeated on screen. I've been in agony with back pain, and am now feeling a bit more empowered to do something about it.

I do feel you have to be a little fit to do this workout because some of the poses are very chaalenging but what i really like is that the program has remained true to the original pilates moves. What i like also is it exercises each part of your body and you really feel it the next day. The moves are explained very clearly and thorougly and its not too slow. Afterwards you feel you have had a real good workout. I highly recommend it.

This DVD is almost impossible to follow. It isn't explained very well. For some reason the presenter thinks you are able to look down at the floor and at the TV at the same time. When explaining the positions of certain muscles or joints she does not tell you what or exactly where these are. It's also too quick and basic for you to understand what she means. There is no way of knowing if you are positioning yourself exactly where you should be. She also doesn't explain what this powerhouse is too well and it's hard to know if you're doing it right. If you want to learn pilates I would suggest going to a studio to learn.

Mostly stretches with a couple of BEYOND BASIC pilates moves, and too much commentary in between. I'm annoyed to have purchased this...

Overall a good value for money collection (I'm saving the pre-natal pilates for when i need it) Rapid results and pilates segments are very good and make you work target areas straight away. Just note that Slim & Sleek pilates DOES NOT come with the resistance band! so I'm having to purchase one of those seperatley, would be better if came with the dvd as i believe if you purchase the slim & sleek dvd seperatley it comes with the band!
