A lot of people think this is the weakest of TNG seasons, but for my money it's one of the strongest with good stories and an interesting new group of characters, not all of them making it to later seasons. The problem is that like all the seasons of TNG, the picture quality is ropey. Why spend all that money on sets, actors and effects and shoot it on low quality tape that always looks soft, even on DVD? So not a total recommendation because of the picture quality. Maybe when they get to Blu-Ray they can improve it a bit?

Season 7 focuses more on finding ways to get home rather then exploration and with the recently used transwarp drive and slipstream drive the crew is ever more closer to getting home. their are a few episodes worth mentioning such as equal rights for holograms, voyagers return home and rather abrupt finish to the series, the borg and their struggle agains't indiviuals vs perfection and mutilation, and the past present and future when voyager strolls nearby an excited electrical anomily.

Season 4 opens up with a battle between borg and 8472, however the crew of voyager strikes a deal and later find out the borg brought the 8472 into the star trek universe, however after persuding the 8472 aliens to give up targeting voyager. a borg drone who was the voice for the voyager alliance was disconnected from the hive who joins the crew despite her attitude throughout the season, she adjusts and realizes the power of being who she is. in that respect the borg queen becomes ever more interested in voyager, the defected borg drone and janeway. This season is where one character is lost Kes, who becomes more then who she was and gained a new one in the form of 7 of 9, the defected borg drone. this season is more of a character ... after season 1's dissapointment comes season 2 which picks up a bit better, the crew encounter the kazon much more then previously encountered and masterminded by the vengeful cardassian woman, Seska whos cover was broken by Kes and the doctor in season 1. meanwhile exploration is put on back burner this season as it involves a bit more action which makes up for the ok or dire storyline. however the end episode of season 2 works out a great springboard to work off for season 3 to begin with a bang. recommended in order to find out why the voyager crew was dumped on a primitive planet by the kazon, and what plans a few rogue crewmembers have in-store for the kazon on board voyager as well as outside.

As i have always maintained Season 1 of voyager is the most boring star trek season of all of them. it might not be what everyone might be thinking however i recommend season 1 so you know how season 2 works out. Certain characters and races/organizations you might not be aware of if you have never watched TNG or DS9 but you have watched VOY, are listed below: Federation, Cardassians, Kazon, Bajorans, Ocampans, Talaxians, Marquis Quark, Morn, Q

I'd just like to re-affirm that it does contain all the bonus features, i got my copy this morning. Great quality videos, pretty cool menu screens and the features are great too. I'd advise people to make sure they know things for sure before they go bitching on amazon reviews.

The dvd box set is is definatly what it says. Recommended to anyone who wants to know how the second season works out. basically like all Season 1 tv shows which are almost always character building seasons before the prelude to the plot later on. the prophets and ben sisko have yet another encounter, but ben has to choose between his corporal existance or the duties of the prophets, the choice he makes ultimatly ends up with his return to earth and the bajoran Major now Colonel Kira's promotion and effective commander of deep space 9 has to do all the duties. however ben finds his head and brings back the prophet to bajor and ben has begun a ruthless attack on the dominion, which almost cost him his life when he and vice adimral ross underestimated a breen addition to a dominion task force while trying push the united alpha quadrant alliance out of Chin'Toka within Cardassian space. however the response to this was another defiant ship and yet another attack with a surprising twist and a new found ally.
