The Planet earth series is an amazing collection of video footage that only the BBC seem to be able to capture in so much detail.

5 Disc collection in HD DVD.

The HD DVD is stunning, the best HD DVD I have seen, on this format and blu-ray, colour's are bright, water is crystal clear and close up details is stunning.

Sound via Dolby Digital is very good, subtle enough to make you feel part of the wildness.

A DVD worth every penny, it is education, enjoyable and amazing.

I think you have to look past the hype and see the film for itself. In that regard, James MacAvoy was as usual superb, and brought his character (Robbie) to life. Saoirse Ronan as the young(est) version of Briony, showed us all of the intensity of a 13-year-old on the cusp of adolescence. Her motivation is clear - she has strong feelings for Robbie, feelings which she cannot express, does not know how to express, but somehow must do; and then she catches her sister and Robbie together, intimately, and it is the resulting bottled-up rage that destroys all three of them.

And what of Keira Knightely? I thought she was convincing. In the first part of the film her dialog is mainly cliches, but that would have been the way her character would ... Read More:

The picture quality and sound is vastly improved over the standard definition version and at these plummeting prices, it's definitely worth owning. I've watched it several times now as I was blown away by the Hi Def picture.
Fingers crossed that Warner Brothers will back track and release all the future Harry Potter movies on HD DVD.

It was a risky storyline but i do believe they pulled it off. Tom Cruise plays a borderline alcoholic/burn out U.S cavalry soldier who travels to Japan to train the Emperors army in the art of modern warfare. He finds a country on the brink of civil war as the ancient Samurai clash with the modernist elements of the 'new' Japanese government.

Cruise is captured during the very first battle and is incarcerated in a mountain village of the Samurai. He quickly learns their language (yeah right) and begins to empathise with their ways and traditions. His loyalty turns and he finds himself standing shoulder to shoulder against the new Japanese army, sent to remove the Samurai.

Good action scenes abound.

This film was one I'd been waiting for and loved every minute in the cinema, which I believe was the best cinema experience I've had to date.

It was great to relive it on DVD when my brother bought it to see it for the first time, but now that HD-DVD is more accessible in price I knew it was something I had to do, and I don't regret it AT ALL.

Absolutely stunning visuals show just what this 'dead' format can do. Every scene has new life as each grain of sand, freckle and piece of flying debris looks so good you can almost feel it. A must for any HD collection and now even more worth getting since the price has halved from the initial RRP. 6 out 5 stars :)

I hate the word critic-surely meaning to criticise. That in itself means that no film could receive a good write up.

Ill briefly review it, as a watcher of maybe, 1 film a week or less, I'm a cabbie and havent the time. I just have an xbox 360 and HD DVD player so I'm taking advantage of the fact that they are discontinued and collecting a lot of films on HD very cheap!

I think all the Oceans' have been great, I'd not seen one before 2 weeks ago. I put on Oceans 13 an hour before work and ended up being an hour late for work......I couldnt wait til the morning!

The planning of the heists is amazing, all 3 in the series are shot fast, slick (Clooney and Pitt making this extremely effective), and I fail to see how anybody ... Read More:

Well, i too was a bit worried when i heard that this project was in the offing, but i was also excited, having grown up with the original series and been a fan for years.
Having watched the old series time and time again, the one thing that jarred with it was the special effects, as they were very much of their time, and i always wished that they could be updated, much as the BBc have done with some of the classic Doctor Who DVD releases.
I have to say that the effects really add a depth to the original show and complement it. They do not detract from Star Trek in any way at all.
I cannot see how people can complain about losing the grainy old stock shots, which were always the same for every episode, and the wobbly-ness of the Enterprise's ... Read More:

Book 5 of the Potter series is rather gloomy. Harry is feeling alienated, nightmarish and insecure, and Voldemort is rising in power. However, what worked extremely well for the book, works a bit against the film. A film is a different means of communication from a book and to strive to follow the book too closely is to do an injustice to both.

In this case the gloom drips off the screen and almost takes over everything else. Aside from the end there is little suspense, the much needed comic relief is scarce and even the characters seem only to be partly present. The film focuses a lot on Harry, but does not always reflect his feelings very well. Hermione and especially Ron are reduced to minor characters with little to say, and other minor characters, ... 'March of the Penguins' is really a lovely little adventure, and one that far outclasses its dreaded "natural documentary" label. It can be as thrilling as any big-budget Hollywood spectacle, and twice as moving. Warner has produced another fine HD DVD release, with strong video and audio, and a slim but compelling set of supplements. This makes a wonderful companion piece to the studio's just-released 'Happy Feet' -- if you can get both as part of a package deal, don't hesitate to pick 'em both up.
