At least the other movies had a tenuous grip on reality, the stunts and action sequences at least SEEMED plausible and the story lines were routed in established well known mythology. This was just too way over the top, like a cartoon. Karen Allen's grin and that god damn tarzan bit put the turd on the cake.

It's all about establishing internal logic with these films. This one had none.

The locations were dingy.

I loved the original Mummy movie -it was rip roaring, silly entertainment that didn't take itself seriously and was all the more fun for it. I was excited for this one and approved the move from Egypt to China/the choice to create a new Mummy to keep the franchise getting stale.

Shame the end result IS stale. The dialogue's cheesier than ever but less witty and self aware, the fabulous John Hannah is demoted by the writers to the poor and unfunny comic relief with a set of really atrocious gags that are unworthy of him, and gamely as Maria Bello tries Rachel Weisz is missed. You no longer care about these characters as you did in the first movies - Rick and Evie are now just nauseating, their son has zero charisma and the new characters ... Read More:

I had no idea what to expect from this movie, but the trailers looked interesting. This movie is an interesting angle, making a superhero with all too human floors. What you should not expect is a Marvel or DC comics movie, probably much more of an all American feelgood movie. Will Smith gives a good performance as our misguided superhero with a good supporting cast and good effects, makes for a nice easy watching movie.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is another classic Indy adventure which stands up extremely well to the first three movies in the series. Those who were upset by what they saw as an 'unrealistic ending' obviously have never seen the ending to an Indiana Jones film! Put simply, this is classic Indiana Jones.
Now onto the Blu ray disc itself - the image is crystal clear and the sound is superb. There are also numerous making-ofs and trailers. The only thing that would have made this release even better would have been a commentary track by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
All in all, this is a great movie and if you are a true Indiana Jones fan, you won't be disappointed by this.

Yes, the Star Wars cash cow is on show again presented nicely so it might win "best of breed". I suppose in a way this is George Lucas's revenge on the public, who pestered him for the original trilogy on dvd and then pestered him some more for the original original versions on dvd. My only surprise is that it doesn't say Limited Edition (yawn)

An interesting idea, quite well handled. Like other reviewers, I thought the first half was better than the second. There were a few inconsistencies in the plot, and some bits were a little silly, but overall it was both entertaining and enjoyable.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

For all the criticisms George Lucas has received in recent times, we must remember that he did manage to come up with this gem of an idea for a perfect action film, and in doing so he created one of the most iconic action hero's that cinema has ever seen. A role perfectly played by its star, Harrison Ford.
The script, written by Lawrence Kasdan, is expertly directed by Steven Spielberg, who by this stage of his career was firing on all cylinders. He takes Kasdan's script and perfectly balances the dialogue with the action creating a finely tuned fast paced action film.
The opening scene and the `Truck Scene' showcase Spielberg's uncanny ability to create stunning set pieces within his movies. This is something that really sets ... Read More:

The main problem with this film is that if you've seen the first then you've seen this one. There is no originality in the script at all which is a shame, because I would say that this film has just killed the franchise.

Again Nicholas Cage takes the lead role of Ben Gates in this Tomb Raider type film. Once again Ben and his trusty sidekick Riley Poole (Justin Bartha) and girlfriend Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) are once again attempting to clear the name of his great grandfather - just like they did in the first film. In this one he (briefly) kidnaps the President rather than the Declaration of Independence, but once again they end up being chased around by the bad guys, while looking for the treasure that will prove his relatives innocence. I told you it was ... Read More:

i have just finished watching the forbidden kingdom, and my first impression was, oh god no its in English! all kung foo movies should be in chinese with english subtitles, in my opinion. the one redeaming feature was the action scenes they were pretty good in , just such a shame its been ruined by the Americans, if it had been left to the Chinese I'm sure it would of been amazing, but due to the American input the story line is that of a children's story, i would not recommend this film and i think you should stick to such films as crouching tiger hidden dragon, house of the flying daggers and hero,

DVD : Indiana Jones: The Adventure Collection (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom & Last Crusade) [1981]
I have seen all the three installments in the theatres right from my early days of school to college days. It was a great adventure to watch. All three movies have independent stories, but the best of them was the "Last Crusade". However, the first one "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is also good. "The Temple of Doom" is not very interesting.
All three movies are the best viewing experience for adventure. However, the DVD pack is not very attractive. This DVD pack contains all three DVDs, with each disc containing special features pertaining to movie, which also includes latest excerpts from interviews with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Except for these interviews, nothing new is in this DVD pack. Those of you who already have previously released DVD pack in 2003 are not recommended ... Read More:
