Having been subjected to the whole 8 series keeping the little ones occupied I was curious to see how this would work with a new voice and clearly american take on the tales.

Well the addition of Pierce Brosnan's voice as the narrator is a great choice and the story and songs kept my 23 month old captivated and happy for several hours. The songs are a change and he jiggles around to them with glee. The extras keep him entertained as well.

This makes a great gift to any thomas fan.

Tell you what, this film was AMAZING! The CGI was so detailed and realistic (well.. as realistic as giant transforming robots can be!). I originally rented this on DVD, but got it on Blu-Ray earlier this week.
I'd never compare this to the Back to the Future trilogy, but if you liked those films, you want some amazing scenes and some all round fun, this is definitely for you.

In addition to all the positive things about this DVD I would just also like to mention two drawbacks:
1.) If you don't like the Walt Disney singing parades, this is a no for I'm afraid it contains quite a few
2.) The stories do NOT come to a natural and obvious end but rather one leads on to the other so you do have the debate as to whether the child may not watch a little more ...and just another little more ...

This is one of those dvds you can get out any time of year over and over again and it still appeals. Who would have thought combining a witch, a doctor and WWII would create such wonder.

The characters created by Angela Lansbury (Miss Price the good witch) and David Thomlinson (Dr Amelius Brown)are wonderful and the combination of settings, singing, dancing and animation are very well balanced. Our whole family love this film.

When you compare this film to shrek 1 and 2 it doesen't stand up as well, i did a bit of research and found out the director was a first timer, which is a classic Hollywood mistake, that i personaly find insulting. Why give a huge summer movie like shrek to a first time director? Clearly the first timer shows that he's not really up to the job, it is as if he missed the point of shrek completely. Where the first two shreks were kids films that parents could enjoy and laugh along with as well, its as if this is neither for kids or parents and misses the mark in several places. It is clear they have overfocused on glossy CGI production,(which is really beautiful) and not thought through the core of the story and jokes etc. Where as shrek 1+2 were built around ... DVD : Tom And Jerry - Classic Collection - Vol. 1
I must say that I have always been a Tom & Jerry fan, so it was long overdue for me to start owning the collection. I bought Volumes 2 & 3 at the same time as getting this one, and despite any editing and overdubbing, I still enjoy settling down to a couple of hours fun entertainment from these timeless characters. My little toddler son also enjoys the Tom & Jerry cartoons - and it takes a lot to get him to sit still for a few minutes - he really seems to like the mouse character as he squeals with delight and claps his hands. Good DVD, would recommend this to all fans, old and young alike.

beautiful movie, based on the theory taht dinosaurs lived even after teh meteorite struck the earth. the decision to combine real life landscape with computer animation fits erally well and i think add to the story

Yes this is basically a kids film, but as a 40+ person with no kids who has purchased the DVD, I'll happily own up to being an adult who loves this film.

This film set the benchmark for computer animated films when it was released in 1995 and it still looks good today. The story is simple and the characters are marvellous. Whoever thought of the idea that Buzz Lightyear could be a toy who believes he really is a Space Ranger deserved an Oscar. Its a brilliantly conceived idea, which has a funny and at times touching script.

Its also worth mentioning the that the songs are by Randy Newman, a vastly underrated musician and songwriter, whose Uncles wrote the music for some the great Hollywood movies of the 40's and 50's.
