I watched this film expecting to watch a dark, moody and thoughtful thriller, but what I got was a cliched and unintentionally very funny comedy, but all the more entertaining for being that. The story is basically about about a mad serial killer, whos motives are never revealed, cutting a bloody and very unrealistic swave through small town desert America (killing anybody who even looks at him a bit funny) looking for a stupid hick who toke a case of money from a drug deal gone bad, and small town sheriff half trying to catch up with them both, but he hardly features for some reason. After the first half-an-hour or so of watching the dumb hick, the nutty serial killer with his funny hair and comic weapon of death and Tommy Lee Jones' usual ... Read More:

I did originally try reading the book but found it quite difficult to get into. But the movie is something different. A period drama in a stately mansion. A young man falls for a beautiful young woman, but a cruel sequence of events transpires that will change their lives. The movie contrast the story of one man against the war and can be regarded as a snaapshot of the social classes in Britain during WWII. This is a strange movie to categorise because it is a very unique blend of genres. Its is both a period romance, and a war film. My husband dreaded the idea of watching a film about 'posh' people talking about nothing, but after I made him watch with me he love it. The film also has a beautiful musical score. This is a sad, moving and amazing ... Read More:

I have recently discovered modern British comedy, and I am a HUGE fan of comedies like Shameless, Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy's road to nowhere, Extras and The office. This comedy was recommended to me based on my opinion on Shameless, which I think is the best TV-show ever. However, "Gavin and Stacey" doesn't even get close to any of the shows mentioned. To me, it seems "stiff", very "acted" and WAAY to sweet. The character Nessa is a bit funny, and rescues it from being a complete disaster, but in general I find the rest of the cast quite boring or even repulsive. (Couldn't stand the smiley doll Stacey.)I was very disappointed.

Ellen Page (Hard candy) stars as Juno, a teenager who falls pregnant and doesn't want the baby for herself.

In all its hype and being a huge fan of the drama genre and J.K Simmons (Spiderman) I was really looking forward to this. I had a reasonable day at work and sat down ready to be enticed into the trauma of a young girl with a load on her shoulders, but in a way, this Oscar nominated picture kind of strayed from her emotions in the first hour, which I felt was a big mistake. A 16 year old who is carrying a baby that belongs to the love of her life who has suddenly gone cold on her, and she isn't bothered by this massive burden ahead of her? Ok a rough past may have made her grow up, but still some emotion at the beginning would have ... Read More:

I have recently gone through a loss and trauma myself. My friends didn't think that watching this film at this stage of my life is wise. But.. OK, probably cried more then anyone else watching it, but the film left me with the feeling that this also will pass, that I'm not alone with my pain and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Very calming and oh, those Irish guys :D Recommend from the bottom of my shattered heart

This is a triumph for Burton and Depp but too bad about Mrs Lovitt. The direction is tight as a drum, and, although I am a fan of the full stage production, I didn't miss the music that was cut because it was not necessary for a film. Depp executes a role-defining characterisation and sings excellently giving the music a modern feel through his pop/rock style. Sacha Baron-Cohen was also nothing short of fabulous as was the young boy.

For the most part the acting is right on the money. The biggest exception was, unfortunately, the character of Mrs Lovitt. Mrs Lovitt is a pivotal character and her part requires an actor/singer who can act the songs using her voice, which requires some experience and technique. It isn't really a character to do for one's first ... Read More:

This film is similar to The Assassination Of Jesse James and No Country For Old Men. Why is it similar? I'll tell you. It's because all three movies are acclaimed as masterpieces but are actually detested by people who actually know something about quality cinema. There Will Be Blood manages to be even more pointless than the other two and has literally nothing going for it. The story is insultingly dull, the characters are uninteresting, the running time is excrutiating and Daniel Day Lewis' performance is far too similar to the one he gave in Gangs Of New York. Frankly, I couldn't give a toss about some meglomaniac jerk who travels the country in search of oil. If you manage to stay awake until the end credit, it's YOU who deserves an award, not Daniel. Unmitgated crap.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear
I am so glad I read the book first.
The film itself is typical Hollywood gloss but the film lacks something.....lacks a lot of things actually. The whole film just seemed very flat. I would go as far as to say a waste of an evening watching it.
What a real shame as Phillipa Gregory's books are stunning reads.

The story hasn't finished yet so until we see season 4 you can't really comment on the story too much. What we've seen so far has some similarities with season 1 but not so much that it ruins it at all. It's still interesting and you always want to know what happens next. The characters are all great and every little thing ties in well (although not quite as much as season one). Still brilliant tv though! Things happen much faster than in the likes of Lost.

Best if watched in the space of a few days!
