I've slowly got into john mayer over the last year or so, being introduced to him by guitar students. there's so much good about this.

for any musician of my generation pino paladino and robbie macintosh are well known. Real quality pedigrees. for those of you that don't know the names, they've played with everyone...and the reason is they're perfect. Each of the band line-ups present a lesson in how to play the right parts for the song. Which is why paladino and mackintosh, and the others got their jobs.

mayer's own guitar playing is of such good quality, referencing any great guitarist, including SRV, Clapton, Even a little of Beck. His song writing is great quality. (i transcribed Neon for a student, and it ... Read More:

This must be a Genesis-cover band! Genesis did their last touring in 1977 and has not been active since. Although three of these guy look like aged versions of Phil, Mike and Tony. Is it rubber mask technology? I`d rather admire the stage-sets of "The Musical Box", but the "Elvis-clone-factor" is still not bearable in any context. Who`s that horrible guitar player? Doesn`t sound or look like Steve Hackett at all.........

.....nothing is quite what it seems....................

I watched this dvd for the first time today, and i have to say it is one of, if not the most, profoundly moving piece of work i have ever seen. It moved me on so many levels, and leaves one with such a sense of humility and deep rooted desire to help in some way the Children of Agape. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will be touched deeply by watching this documentary film. Please watch this, and tell your friends and family to watch it too. All funds go to helping children like this in South Africa. To the producers and director, i thank you for opening my eyes and sharing this amazing piece of work with the world.

ZZ Top don't mess about on stage. This is a very slick DVD with all the ZZ Top elements. There is something from most of the albums. ZZ Top never really have long solos or chat for ages with the crowd, this concert is no exception (apart from a smooth Rev Billy G introduction). The moves are clearly well choreographed just as you would expect from a group going for 40 years... I have Every ZZ Top Album and DVD, this is Better than the Best of DVD and contains highlights from all the albums of real note.

A hour and 20 minutes of Dolby Digital, my player does not play the concert in 5.1. But it sounds amazing. The picture quality is superb. I am playing this on a 37 inch LCD wall panel in progressive scan wide screen and the quality is sufficient ... Read More:

Bruce Weber's photography turns the drug and alcohol ravaged face of Chet Baker into a landscape to be explored, and then shows you him as a beautiful young James Dean lookalike.

The music is extraordinary, and carries the film through what might have been its more self indulgent moments. It is cleverly set into context by the commentary from all the talking heads.

Some of the speakers are knowledgeable and insightful, but there is plenty of pleasure is to be gained from listening to his various lovers and wives bitching about each other, which certainly ensures that this is no hagiography.

Perhaps the best bits are when Bruce shows Chet getting angry - when questioned by young fans comparing him unfavourably to Miles Davies, or when ... Read More:

I'll keep this short and sweet.

This is an absolutely fantastic DVD. It really captured just what it was like to be there - the madness and the chaos of being in that crowd is represented really well (I even get in a couple of shots, though not as much as some others sadly!).

The picture and sound quality is second to none, everything is as crisp and clear as being there.

The Pistols themselves are completely on form and back to their snarling best, tearing through all the classics and even finding time for a little sing-a-long with the crowd. Rotten is vicious and abrasive but he truly appreciates the fans, calling them the stars of the show.

Great extras too, I watched them straight away and really enjoyed Steve discussing ... Read More:

I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife, a longterm Cohen fan, and I watched it with her, expecting to kind of enjoy it, but to my surprise I had a great time. I had distantly respected his stuff for a long time, but something about this movie made me love it.

The meat of this movie is not, unfortunately, to be found in the performances by the many guest artists covering Mr. Cohen's songs. There are, frankly, very few gold stars to be handed out. Nick Cave does a bang-up job as perhaps the only person herein who's had a weirder life than Leonard Cohen, even if Mr. Cave is starting to look and sound eerily like Neil Diamond. Teddy Thompson understands the idiom better than some people, although I couldn't help wishing that his dad were in this movie instead ... Read More:

Whilst I can appreciate that this show was probably very good live, in my opinion it doesn't make for a good dvd at all. The set is boring and dark throughout, most of the songs are dull and uninteresting. The audience were very quiet and didn't appear to be enjoying the show very much. The whole thing is a far cry from Darrens Savage Garden days. I found this dvd to be very disappointing.

DVD : Shine a Light [2008] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Around the time of shine a light being released I began to enjoy the music of the 'stones but not love it. When I heard that shine a light was going to be released I went along to see it at the IMAX and from the start of the first song Jumpin' Jack Flash I was gripped. Mick Jagger's singing and showmanship was unbelievable as was Keith Richards's incredible guitar playing backed up by the guitar solos of Ronnie Woods and the unstoppable heart pounding rhythm of Charlie Watts. The guest stars were brilliant also being a fan of the white stripes it was great to see Jack White performing Christina Aguellera was great also but by far the best guest star was Buddy Guy his incredible performance on Champagne & Reefer is hard to describe. The tempo went up and up and up untill a marvellous ... Read More:

Truly quite unique (apart from the first one of course) and dare I say even better. I watched the TV series on Channel 4 and was so pleased to find the series on the DVD too as well as a 2 hour movie about a dozen short films and extras too.

I still sometimes go and watch the trailers at the whataboutme.tv website during the day to give me a spark

Such a fantastic line up too, Lila Downs, KD Lang, Will Young, Carlos Santana, Stewart Copeland, Baba Maal, Zap Mama.. .and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head .... I mean really and that also doesn't even touch on all the philosophies of people like Stephen Fry, Susan Sarendon and Ekhart Tolle.

I can't wait for the album and was thrilled when I found some tracks on Myspace and Facebook
