With this series we are fresh off the regeneration from the previous Doctor played by Christopher Eccleston and now David Tennant has a lot to live up to; he does it and he does it with style. Billie Piper comes back as the magical Rose Tyler and we are given a series where she not only has to handle the notion of a different looking Doctor, but she has to handle the fact that she's falling in love with him and we're given hints that he's falling in love with Rose.

Episode 1: New Earth: In the year 5 Billion and 23 the Doctor takes Rose to the new home of the human race, simply called New Earth and he takes her to the aptly named New New York. There the Doctor meets up with an old friend the Face of Boe but he stumbles upon a secret in the ... Read More:

series 1 started off everything(makes sense)but seriously if it weren't for the success of this series then the show wouldn't have survived...thanks to the amazing writers and crew behind it and some fab actors.
eppy guide-
Rose-4/5-the start...and what a great start it is too...Billie Piper CAN act as the great Rose Tyler and the Autons are very creepy.
The end of the world-4/5-very good all round episode tht boasts some amazing visuals.
the unquiet dead-4/5-very scary episode with some terrifying zombies...and the doctor meets Charles Dickens.
Aliens of London-2/5-a decent episode but not fantastical...contains the infamous big ben crash scene...but not much else.
World War Three-2.5/5-slightly better but the Slitheen aren't the ... Read More:

This has got to be one of the worst Doctor Who stories I have watched for some time and had me questioning not just the story itself but why I am collecting Doctor Who at all.
There is probably about 35 minutes of story stretched out into 4 x 25 minute episodes. I was waiting for it to end by the end of the second episode but we just had endless story progressions revolving around things like the characters moving back and forth between the sisterhood and the castle.
The only thing worth watching here is Elisabeth Sladen.

I live in the United States...and couldn't find any of the Christmas specials sold individually here. So imagine how ecstatic I was to discover that I could purchase them even if they're from the UK. So I place my order and wait excitedly....only to realize that when I popped it into my DVD player, that it was incompatible. Why was there no warning to Americans? I understand that this is Amazon.uk...but still, there ought to be a warning telling Americans like me that these DVDs won't work with American equipment. I feel cheated and now there is no way I can send these DVDs back.

Generally this adventure has much to recommend it and does, indeed provide an interesting record of the time in which it was made. I came away glad to have watched it but not clear I would watch it again any time soon. Many things grated with me, in no particular order:

* WOTAN uses the name Doctor Who explicitly several times which I found grating

* The change of companions is abrupt and the story ends just as the new companions enter the TARDIS meaning you miss the trademark 'bigger on the inside' line

* The TARDIS prop is looking very tatty (though the last time I saw the Tennant TARDIS it had a hole in!)

* The last episode has a huge battle scene with War Machines vs. soldiers which is much too long and somewhat ... Read More:

The fourth series of Doctor Who has been perhaps the finest season out of the lot. My main reason for believing that is when I compare this series to the ones before, this seems to have stood out more in terms of overall quality. When judging the series by each episode individually, I've found that Series 4 has been more consistent than anything that's gone before it.

The fourth and final DVD volume of this series justifies my belief. Without doubt, this three-parter is the highlight of Season 4. Collectively and individually, these episodes are real classics and the ultimate way to end this spectacular series. They have everything and features both David Tennant and Catherine Tate at the peak of their abilities.

The first episode, "Turn Left", is truly one of ... Read More:

Really enjoyable; Classic 70s campy fun-Baker on top form, great debut from Lalla Ward. If you want a serious plot/acting extravoganza-swerve, if you want a bit of a giggle and light hearted fun-then it's a must have. Noone beats the Baker!

This is a collecton of three Dr Who stories, all linked by the presence of the Silurians and/or Sea Devils. The Silurians is an early Jon Pertwee tale which sees the Doctor (working for UNIT) investigating power failures at an underground research centre. Before long he has come across a race of intelligent reptile-people who once inhabited the Earth and have been revived from their age-old suspended animation. This is an example of Dr Who at its best - thought-provoking, intelligent, well-written, and with some serious issues to raise. In The Sea Devils, also with Jon Pertwee, the Doctor visits his old adversary the Master who is currently beng held in a high-security jail. However, it seems another prehistoric race, this one amphibious, have emerged from hibernation. Though this story sometimes ... Read More:
