The content of this dvd is absolutely fine. The problem is that the second disc, the one where we actually won the slam, can't get past the menu. And that's on three separate dvd players. And after ordering a replacement disc from Amazon. Hopeless. I'm off to get a refund. Avoid!

Just received this DVD and once I started watching it I couldn't stop. I am not even a rugby fan, but in terms of team preparation it was a great resource. If you want to see all the footage from all of the games, this is the wrong DVD for you. However, if you want to know what made the Lions tick behind the scenes this DVD is a must. Footage from games, training sessions, team meetings, selection meetings, physio rooms, dressing rooms. It has it all.

As a rugby fan, I was very disappointed with this DVD. After last World Cup's brilliant review I found that this lacked a great deal. For example, the DVD misses out around half the actual tries scored, especially in those games in which a giant plays a minnow team, NZ vs Portugal one of many examples in whcih maybe two or three of the many tries scored are actually shown. As a viewer and fan you'd want and expect to see all these tries/tackles/moments, not to have them completely overlooked! As well as this lack of detail, the commentator Bruce Hamall never misses a chance to have a snide remark about England's "poor" performances which becomes very irritating after a while. So if you buy this DVD don't expect it to live up to the high standards set ... Read More:

Wow what a season for Welsh rugby and this two hour DVD captures perfectly the highlights of the five victories on the pitch as well as some of the behind the scenes tension and excitement as Wales rejuvenated under Gatland, Edwards and Howley swept all before them. I absolutely loved this, and have watched it three times already in the four days since it arrived, and cannot imagine me tiring of it any time soon. I enjoyed the 2005 Grand Slam DVD review with then Man of the Tornament Martyn Williams interviewed by Ieuan Evans but this format works even better I beleive with an overview from the Welsh wizard himeslf Shane Williams whom is so modest in his commentary, in contrast to his world class performances on the pitch which won him the 2008 Man of the Tournament ... I was really looking foward to this but sadly was very disappointed. I feel that the 1997 Living with Lions DVD really sets the bench mark for this type of sports documentary and i feel that Sweet Chariot 2 short changes us somewhat. On the positive side it was fascinating to see the chagning room footage of the SA tour and the army training. it was also a good insight to the team meetings. However, we should been given a greater insight into the players and coaches and got to know them better, apart from the decent featurette on David Strettle we barely get to see any of the players (unless you count the featurette on wilkinson who is probably the most uninteresting of the lot). Where are the characters? Where are the views of Moody, Faz, ... Read More:

As other reviewers have noted, this DVD is a real let-down given what it could have been. Match highlights are exceedingly brief while the "off the field" coverage is nothing more than the standard, fairly bland, pre- and post-match interviews from broadcast TV. To any genuine rugby fan it is a particular frustration on this DVD to hear endless comments on England's comeback in RWC 2007 being based on a "mighty forward pack" and then see nothing in the highlights of that forward power. In particular Sherdan was rightly praised for his destruction of the Aussie scrum but all the important scrums are missing from the highlights of that game. I was really delighted how quickly this DVD arrived at my home, after barely 36 hours after order. I was really looking forward to watching some high level rugby tied in with a behind the scenes coverage of the Lions tour of 2001. This first review on this site, claims, that the DVD includes extended highlights from all 3 tests. Well this person must have a different copy to the version i received. If i had to guess, i would rekon you get around 25 minutes of actual rugby footage from a DVD lasting 3 hours. The warm up games, v the likes of, NSW, ACT Brumbies, Western Australia are almost covered in the same length (rugby coverage) as the actual test matches.
