I like top gear and indeed Clarkson, but left alone for these income christmas churn and burn dvd's the script reviews and content is lacking.... I have purchased all his prev xmas editions/books etc etc , but after wasting money on this DVD...never again... Jeremy you need a better producer, a decent script and production values that dont make your dvd's look like you and a mate went wild with a vidcam one friday arvo in order to make a bit of xmas coin for the clarkson household again..... v lazy Jeremy

My brother just bought this for me (I put him up rent free for months when he came back from traveling). One of the best things he has ever got me. There are five DVDs and I've already watched three, I've only had it a week. When you watch it your just in awe of the scenery, it's beautiful. There is a purposefully made score for it that just adds to the enjoyment. As for people that say they can't hear David Attenborough because of the music, they must be deaf the music always quietens down when he talks. I love the Planet Earth Diaries parts, it's very enjoyable to watch. I may be wrong but I think this was the first or first major nature progamme to be filmed fully in HD and it's all the better for it.

It's an all time classic. I believe this is the only version of Pride and Prejudice that does the book justice. Jane Austen would be very proud. I love the strength that Lizzy shows. She always holds her own and is not afraid to speak her mind. She is highly intelligent and is a good example. Colin Firth plays his part so brilliantly. The complex relationship between these two is wonderful. The battle of wills. Then to watch it all come toghether in the end always brings a tear to my eye. I have not seen a movie yet that beats this. They don't make them like this anymore.

Unlike most reviews for this thusfar I thought I'd wait to see the whole series. How can you really comment if you haven't? Before I start my review of the series I'd say that watching this on DVD is the way to go. This kind of adventure should seem epic and long, put it on and watch 3 episodes back to back. Not in a weekly form. I found Long Way Down much better on DVD than on TV due to this. Oh and one more thing, it's not as good as Ewan McGregor And Charley Boorman - Long Way Round [Special Edition] [2004], few shows are, so don't expect it to be. I love Life on Mars, John Simm is fantastic in it. A DVD you just have to own. Great cars and music too...

I managed to miss this in the cinema and waited a long time for it to turn up on DVD. Its a great DVD, the sound is good quality, the video shots are superb the atmosphere is electric. Its really nice the way Jagger comes across a bit tongue in cheek and the band don't seem to take it all too seriously. The Stones aren't the best band ever but they have a long list of rock songs which deliver and have delivered constistently since 1960. Its all good fun. Charlie Watts does a great job holding the rest of the band together, literally. And Jagger is still mesmeric to watch. I saw them once in Croydon in the '60's with Brian Jones, only for the sound to be obliterated totally by screaming girls. So it was nice to get to hear them in concert at last. ... Read More:

This is a collection of challenges with our favourite team of car presenters and their house-trained racing driver. If you're a fan of the Top Gear programs, you need this on DVD. The video is crystal clear, the sound is good, and there are English subtitles if you need them. You also get the interviews/laps by Lewis Hamilton and Simon Cowell, but don't be fooled by the "extended interviews" tag. They're just the normal interviews the way they appeared on TV. The other extras are for hard-core enthusiasts, but not really necessary if you prefer watching the program and the guys interacting rather than the cars. This is a stunning series, taking the viewer all around the British Isles and invoking not just the stunning and often wild imagery but the art, poetry and wildlife that was insired by it and also providing a good deal of information about those who created it. David Dimbleby is a terrific presenter, relaxed, erudite, nuanced and clearly enjoying himself. I also have the equally brilliant How We Built Britain and only hope Mr Dimbleby puts more time and effort into further projects such as these.

I remember watching this as a kid and recently saw parts of it again on the History channel and have found it incredibly moving - just the theme music with a series of shocking pictures culminating in the gaunt face of a young girl at the end, is truly chilling. The series examines every aspect and angle of the war in great detail. It does not shy away from some shocking footage and yet never feels like it is revelling in it. It is a serious historical work and yet it never drags. Watching it again I was struck by how many of those interviewed are long dead now, and how lucky I have been to never experience anything like the suffering they endured, and how future generations should never forget the price of their freedom.
