This has always been my favourite Disney film, and I am so glad it's been given the loving restoration it deserves. The fantastic detail and 1950s graphic take of gothic and medieval styles is positively breathtaking. For Walt Disney it was ground breaking (and almost bankrupting) to create something so meticulously detailed and stylistically consistent right down to the backgrounds, and the result is beautiful and atmospheric. My personal view of this is that Pan is an arrogant self obsessed oik ... but I'm pushing 30 so what would i know ?!!! My son got it for his 3rd birthday and loves it and despite watching several times isn't bored of it.

I had a teacher who used to call me Dumbo. I assumed he was implying I was mentally retarded but now I see this and realise he was mocking my huge ears which I use to help me fly!

This was one of my favourite disney films when I was little and when I saw it on DVD fully restored with pristine picture quality I had to buy it. This may not be on the same terms as Lion King, Bambi, Little Mermaid and other disney classics we all know, in terms of popularity but this film has its own charm to it and is just as good as the others, with its sense of imagination, humour and positive messaging. This is a great film in its own right and for any disney fan or someone looking for a good family film it should be in your DVD collection.

What is so exquisite about Sleeping Beauty is that it looks like a medieval tapestry coming to life. If you look closely at the details in the backgrounds you can see little twists in the leaves and curves in the tree bark which overall gives an ornate and opulent look still refreshing to this day. It was the most expensive film in it's day, it took over four years to make and Walt Disney stated to his artists and animators that they should take their time over it, make it beautiful and so it came as a shock when it didn't do all that well in the cinemas. It wasn't really able to communicate to an american youth who were smoking things they shouldn't and it seemed this highly romantic film was too idealistic in it's portrayal of young love, it felt as if it should ... Joy of joys! Tinkerbell is a 5-star film with jingle-bells on. It's simply magical, and anyone in your household will fall in love with its sparkly, fairy-dusted prettiness. Peter Pan (the Special Edition, no less) is vintage Disney at its best. In some ways, modern Disney can't quite rival the old stuff, and it's the 1953 film that cemented Tink as Disney's biggest star (for a while there, she was receiving more fan mail than all the other Disney characters combined) and created the iconic vision of her in short, green dress and flicky blonde fringe. I think most people have seen the film and already know whether they like it or not when considering buying this DVD. So I'll talk specifically about this DVD. The film has been restored beyond its original brilliance. If you pay close attention, particularly at a still-frame, you will realize that what Disney means by this is that they didn;t really restore it but just went ahead and rapaint every single frame digitally. SO certainly the feel has nothing of the warmth and life of the hand-coloured original. Luckily, the studio seems to have taken quite great care with this and so the recolouring is not too obtrusive, only becoming helplessly intrusive in certain scenes. I must say that I have always been a Tom & Jerry fan, so it was long overdue for me to start owning the collection. I bought Volumes 2 & 3 at the same time as getting this one, and despite any editing and overdubbing, I still enjoy settling down to a couple of hours fun entertainment from these timeless characters. My little toddler son also enjoys the Tom & Jerry cartoons - and it takes a lot to get him to sit still for a few minutes - he really seems to like the mouse character as he squeals with delight and claps his hands. Good DVD, would recommend this to all fans, old and young alike.
