This is one of the best films I have seen in a long, long time. Sitting in my living room on christmas day 2007 watching it for the first time I was blown away. In the first half hour the action is already unfolding. Thomas Haden Church is an excellent new take on the sandman revealing that he's "not a bad person," he's "just had a bad life." Toby maguire is once again flawless, the same goes for James Franco and Kirsten Dunst too. J.K Simmons is once again hillarios as the sadistic editor of the daily bugle. Topher Grace is a brialliant Eddie brock. Harry dies in the end and the whole thing is really quite depressing. All in all a very good third installment.

finaly got round to watching this dvd and i never thought i'd say this about a bond film but it was pants it seemed to me they were trying to pretend the past 30 odd years of bond never happened with things like bond had only just been given 00 status i know this was the first book written but if they wanted to start a the begining it should have been set in the 1950's it just didn't jel no moneypenny no q it just wasn't bond

This is an abomination to the great game. The 47 in the film isn't even albino, Timothy Oliphant looks and sounds like a 14 year old boy and has none of the trade characteristics of the in game 47 (the deep voice, the presence and the stern look of a man who is capable of killing). Why Timothy? look at the other good actors they could have chosen e.g. Jason Statham, The guy who does 47's voice in the game (he even looks the same because 47's appearance is based on the voice actors) and even dare i say Vin Diesel could have managed a much better job. The plot has more holes than swiss cheese, and while watching it I wondered if the directors had even played the game or just looked at the front covers. Anyone who has played even one level in ... "Gripping, intelligent and amazing" is the pull quote on the back of the DVD sleeve and it's the closest opinion to my own. If you want an all action war film, this won't be at the top of your lift. Jarhead is one of the only (in my brief viewing of the many war films out there) 'intelligent' war films out there thanks to it being based on the main character's personal experience in the Gulf. The casting is spot on with Jake Gyllenhaal in the role of Swoff, whose face looks every part a seasoned Marine the moment it appears. Jamie Foxx plays Staff Sgt. Sadly, if one could have told this screenwriter to give up thinking and simply write a typical vacuous Hollywood script, this would have been excellent. The plot is solid and keep one's interest while Danny Glover and Mark Wahlberg offer decent performances. The attempts at some kind of contemporary political relevance are awkward and trite, however, really undermining the movie. It was clearly an area beyond the writer's capabilities. The insistent conspiracy theory scaffolding offers absolutely nothing original: the government is evil, all humankind is greedy, there is no justice in the 'Department of Justice' (oh the irony!), oil can explain absolutely everything that has ever happened, and democracy is not democracy - all according to the usual formula. This has got to be the best priced Blu-Ray title by far for £25 you get all 3 Spider-Man films all on blu-ray, one title alone is around £20/£25 nowadays, my local high street store has the Spider-Man Trilogy and they are selling it for £50?. First of all I would like to assure all the PS3 owners that Spider-Man 2 does work on a PS3, I was a little nervous in getting the boxset after reading most prople are having problems in playing Spider-Man 2 on there PS3's as someone has mentioned that Sony have fixed the problem, if you haven't updated your PS3 then I recommend you do so. Having been impressed by the first two series of Deadwood, I was expecting another well written dramatic jewel. What a disappointment. The plot, such as there is, meanders along, with new (superfluous)characters thrown in with the obvious intent of providing continuity for the next (never to be completed) series, more incoherent drunken ramblings from Calamity Jane, a pointless cameo from Wyatt Earp and a finale that, by the time it arrives, is so overdue that it comes as a relief from the tedium, despite it's complete lack of drama. Series 3 of Deadwood is rubbish. It could have been a masterpiece. However, having said that, the acting of Ian McShane et al is still superb. This film was exciting when I saw it in 1956 in Holland, and it is just as exciting now. How can one miss with the superb talent of Michael Redgrave, the stirring music of Eric Coates, and a gripping yarn that happens to be true? Much of the fascination of this film stems from its depiction of Barnes Wallis's process of planning and perfecting the bouncing bomb, and persuading Whitehall to go along with his eccentric idea. Equally interesting are the various makeshift devices, such as the range-finding lights and the home-made bombsight. "The Dam Busters" tells the story of ingenuity and courage during wartime. This is one of my all time favourite movies. Great mix of acting, action,drama,audio,and video all wrapped around a superb story. Don't get the director's cut, the original is almost perfect. I'm still of the belief that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The theatrical release wasn't broke. I just found out that the original was available in the UK and ordered it, because it is not available in North America. Review is from Canada.
