Convoy is a tale of three truckers who defy a corrupt backwater sheriff and end up becoming a national cause celebre. On the run from the authorities, they cross several states and in doing so gather huge support - eventually leading to a horizon full of trucks in their wake.

The film is watchable and fun at times. It wouldn't win any awards, but it did have a long-lasting social appeal as it played a part in popularising CB radio in the UK (thus ushering in the era of silver rods on every second council house across the land).

The film is peppered with CB jargon. It also has an all star soundtrack - such as Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle, Billie Jo Spears, Merle Haggard and Glen Campbell (however, in practice, the music ... Read More:

Its rubbish. I persevered with up to half way, but could not take any more. Nothing happened and you simply do not care about the cliche characters. Do yourself a big favour and give this total bore a miss.

This is a nice film to watch from the point of view of the photography of beautiful locations in spain and it gives an intriguing and at times humorous insight into how bad and ruthless british gangsters are,but I didn't like the way the main character justified becoming one of them by saying that the alternative to being this bad was living an honest but boring life in london.God help Spain if London is that boring!

I first saw this as a young boy, and couldn't understand why I empathised with these soldiers when they were German. And then I watched transfixed, and when the ending came that clinched it - it was, and remains till this day, very close to my heart. It permanently changed me as young person and my moral compass and my view of the world. It was that important. It also helped fire up my love of great cinema and how total an experience a great film can be.

And of course, it was made very close to the real events, and has that touch of realism that films made now cannot reach back and grasp.

Too many highlights to list here - the individual stories, the great scenes (alone in a foxhole with a frenchman he's killed etc) - but what is ... Read More:

I'm almost embarrassed that I thought it was good when I was a kid. Because I was too young to understand the bad points and let's face it, we don't have high demands of quality when we are young. I thought power rangers had good acting then... riiight moving swiftly on.

Anyway I watched it again a year or so ago when it was on TV and realised just how innocent I must have been.

Not only is this film crap, but its pro American theme that is used to carry the story really made me cringe... HARD.

Its like a serious version of Team America. I'm sure the point of this was to have Americans coming out of the "Movie Theatre" (Cinema to you and I) jumping up and down with their lassoes screaming YEAH!!! YEAH!!!. But what are the rest of us meant to ... Read More:

"Kill Bill" was either a disaster-in-the-making or a one of a kind hit -- a sprawling revenge flick that had to be cut in two and released separately. But director Quentin Tarantino serves up entertainingly mindless gore and twisted thrills in "Kill Bill Volume 1," a salute to homages.

Tragedy strikes the Bride (Uma Thurman) on her wedding day: The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DiVAS) attacks and slaughters the guests, the groom, and wounds the very pregnant Bride herself. Her former boss/lover Bill (David Carradine) finishes the bloodbath by shooting the Bride in the head. But despite his efforts, she isn't dead.

A few years later, the Bride wakes to find that she has been in a coma for a few years, and has been being used as a sex toy for rent. After recovering enough ... Read More:

The combination of Benjamin Britten's powerful War Requiem, the poetry of Wilfred Owen and the acting and cinematography in this piece make for an intense experience. Jarman was not allowed to add a single word to the text of the requiem, yet he managed to make this work both a personal and a universal statement. Don't distract yourself with popcorn: give it your total attention. The images will haunt you.

For many Bond fans, the return of Sean Connery in this "unofficial" Bond entry, was an exciting opportunity to experience the Connery magic and charisma before the earlier pre-Roger Moore years. Released in 1983, the film competed head-to-head against Moore's entry, "Octopussy" which, to some critics of note, one of the better Roger Moore efforts. Obviously, this production had a more engaging cast, an entertaining story, and some good actors: Maude Adams and Lois Jourdan as Bond's nemesis than "Never Say Never Again."

While it's good to have Connery back, looking actually fitter than he did in "Diamond Are Forever" in 1971, and wearing a faultless toupee, the film manages to fall short on a number of levels. Viewers should note, it is a different film; for instance, no gun barrel logo in ... Read More:

Flicking through my recommendations on Amazon today I came across this. Well I bought it when it first came out on DVD so thought I would add my voice to those other reviews about the quality. I won't say to much about the film. For me it was very, very enjoyable. Well acted (a pleasure to see so many British stars mixed with those from across the pond), well directed (the scene where Beatrice and Benedict are 'captured' by the trap is superb), with good music and wonderful scenery.

Such a shame then that the DVD is so sloppily put together. In Mono only! No scene selection. No 'making of'. No directors' comments. Surely the time has come for a new edition?

I have most of Kenneth Branagh's work and enjoyed immensely his comments on 'Loves Labours Lost' and would really like to hear him speak ... Read More:
