These are classic films and the DVD set is a fantastic buy. The movies on offer are brilliant entertainment and great examples of westerns. This is a brilliantly enjoyable collection of films and well worth owning.

Flicking through my recommendations on Amazon today I came across this. Well I bought it when it first came out on DVD so thought I would add my voice to those other reviews about the quality. I won't say to much about the film. For me it was very, very enjoyable. Well acted (a pleasure to see so many British stars mixed with those from across the pond), well directed (the scene where Beatrice and Benedict are 'captured' by the trap is superb), with good music and wonderful scenery. Such a shame then that the DVD is so sloppily put together. In Mono only! No scene selection. No 'making of'. No directors' comments. Surely the time has come for a new edition? I don't write many reviews, but really felt motivated with 'Spider-man and his amazing friends', because it brings back some really fond memories. I used to love this cartoon and couldn't wait for it to be on. I seem to remember that the early 1980's, the BBC childrens schedules had a Spiderman cartoon at about 4:30 on mondays, alternating between runs of the amazing friends and the solo Spiderman series. Much as I loved the amazing friends, I did prefer the solo Spidey adventures, which seemed to have a more serious (?!) edge. I know another reviewer here has mentioned the solo series, so I hope it gets a release. I have conducted alot of reserch and it looks like the blu ray set is likely to contain the deluxe editions of the first two films that were relesed in the US earler this year and as for the third film not much about the features are known. This review is based on watching the "original theatrical version" (1977) which is on the Bonus Disc in this 2 Disc DVD. There is stellar charm from C3PO, R2D2, Princess Leia, Skywalker, and Hans Solo. The pace of the film is also very good. The audience follows the story much through the eyes of narrators C3PO and R2D2. That, ladies and gentleman, is why this film is pretty innovative. Star Wars doesn't really become truly galactic until Empire Strikes Back.

Like Dynasty in crinolines, this wonderful drama develops at the perfect pace to involve the viewers in the lives of the characters long before the horrors of the civil war in the US begin. Two friends from military academy are on opposite sides once war breaks out - but in the beginning there is a believable friendship which results in family members meeting and marrying to form strong bonds. Foes from the academy reappear in war time and scheming southern belle Ashton can give Scarlett O'Hara a run for her money. Too many famous faces to mention but Kirsty Alley shines as abolishinist Virgillia - obsessed to the point of blindness by her belief in "the cause". This film doesn't pretend to be a history lesson.What it does do is inform people about the Scottish freedom fighter William Wallace and it does it in an excellent way.Many people have been critical about the historical inaccuracies in this movie but they miss the point.More than anything,'Braveheart' has opened the door for so many people to perhaps learn more about a man they may never have heard of before this film came along. Mel Gibson deserves enormous credit for both his portrayal and direction.Indeed,the acting is pretty much top notch here and special praise must go to Patrick McGoohan as King Edward 1st.He positively drips evil and dominates every scene he is in. This is one of my favourite films. The cast are obviously enjoying being in it as well which makes it nice to watch. There's some wonderful barbed dialogue and the performances are (while maybe a little broad at times) excellent. The reason this gets 4 stars and not 5 is the DVD itself. It's only a bare bones release. There are a lot of deleted scenes from the film (including an entire subplot featuring Tracey Ullmann) that were cut out! In fact if you look up the trailer (youtube etc) for the film some of these scenes can be seen. Making it extremely frustrating that they are not included here. In this world of "Special Editions" and constantly repackaged DVD's can't somebody at the marketing department suggest a re-release of "Death Becomes Her"?

this box set is one of the best box set we have seen in recent years....they are films that will be remembered for along time......its a change to what we usually see coming out of hollywood, like all the blood and gore films..or the none stop shooting ones ....... not that they arent good films they are its just good to see that they can produce something else for a change, with a great star studded cast ..i mean they gotta be good to have a star cast like they have ......and this is defintly a film for the ladies not so much for the plot but for the cast anything with matt damon, brad pitt and george cloney in gets my vote ...... i also think that how the plot always has a twist keeps u watching and wanting to no more ..its great how everything is unveiled at the end... i feel that the last one ... Volume Two is all about the World War One years. They have some interesting historical characters, such as Charles Du Gaulle, Sigfried Sassoon... As well as some well know famous British Actors. This is a must have collection for Indiana Jones fans.
