Did anyone ever see the 1997 made for TV version of Vanishing Point? It stars the as yet unknown Viggo Mortensen as Kowalski and had the only two changes needed to make it a criminal travesty:

1) They gave Kowalski a reason to be hurtling from Denver to California - because his missus was having a baby.

2) They actually had the bare faced nerve to allow him to complete the journey on time to create a happy ending.

Vanishing Point (this proper 1971 version as the re-make should be deleted from history) is a counter culture classic of such awesome proportions that I can only weep that I will never EVER make anything this good.

The plot? A chap decides that he is going to deliver a souped up Dodge ... Read More:

I love films in general. I have a special taste for war films.

As the synopsis states, its about a team of Russian Special Forces going behing the lines in Poland. After about 30 Minutes you start to think what you're doing tonight and if you've had your teeth cleaned lately.

Quite frankly the main failing of this film is YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS. The reason for this is lack of story, acting and script.

On the bright side, the actions scenes are good as is the camerawork but really this film is a mess.

Go and see 'Come and See' instead.

It is the year 2057. The sun is about to peter-out in about 50years. A mission was sent seven years ago to reignite the sun; the ship disappeared. Now a new mission and last chance.

We are now introduced to the standard crew mix over the obligatory eating scene. The mission is reviled. We learn of each person's personality and quirks. And it takes a long slow time. (For people with Blu-ray you can fast-forward with sound on, it does not sound Mickey Mouse.) Soon we find the fate of the previous ship. We also suffer from an accident caused by miscalculation. Will these mishaps jeopardize the mission and the human fate?

The film is a tad slow probably by design and there are lots of flashy visuals. Many look like they ware borrowed ... Read More:

Smokey and The Bandit is a great film and number two is good but three spelled doom just like Jaws went too far.

Even with that said you can't buy all three as stand alone films on DVD film one not a problem part two and three are on the same disc.

I great to see the bungling of the Shreiff with the oddest name but qiute apt for his job.

This bgoxset is the only way to get the two good film but it seem that you will get stuck with the thrid film.

Return of the Jedi was my favourite film as a kid growing up when there was only the original trilogy and with the Star Wars saga now complete it still remains my favourite. The first part of the movie is in my opinion some of the past Star Wars adventure out of all six films covering the famous rescue of Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt with still impressive action sequences such as the rancor and sail barge battles. The second half really delivers a satisfying conclusion to the story on all front with the classic intercutting of three distinct battles all being crucial to the resolution of the story. Stunning effects still in this day and age and a really emotional stoyline make for in my opinion the best conclusion the Star Wars saga could have hoped for.

Kill Bill was the first Tarantino movie that was release in my time - I'm happy I got to see it when it came out as well - this film is no second rate copycat film in homage to kung fu cinema - it adds so much more.
The Bride (Uma Thurman) is seeking revenge on Bill and his assassination squad for trying to kill `The Bride' on her wedding day, and placing her into a coma for four years.
What makes this film so great (to me Volume 1 + 2 is one film split in half) is that for the first 90 mins we get 100% adrenaline, action that is pure grin inducing. The Crazy 88 scenes (even better on the Japanese uncut DVD release) are out of this world - its ultra violence at its height and also cinematic art that you don't get to see very often.
Never before has ... Read More:

*WARNING- SEMI SPOILERS AHEAD*

This is basically about one of the most dysfunctional families EVER! Set in the good ol Tang Dynasty days when it was hip to be Emperor and you had about a gazillion flower arrangers at your beck and call, the plot mainly revolves around the disintegration of the royal family due to their own back stabber-y hi-jinks. Apparently it's not so hip to be an adulterating Empress, even if you do look very pretty all resplendent in your opulent gowns. It's amazing she can move in that stuff!

The entire movie's pretty opulent actually. It's like watching that panoramic bowing scene from 'The Last Emperor' crossed with an Olympic opening ceremony. There's more plotting and scheming than actual fighting, but when they start with ... Read More:

The car chase in Bullitt may seem a bit less impressive than it once did because filmmakers have been trying to top it for the best part of four decades. More of a cat-and-mouse game than a demolition derby, its overshadowed by the film's other action setpieces - a murder in a safe house, a tense chase in a hospital and a great airport finale that Michael Mann ripped off wholesale in Heat. A beautifully constructed star vehicle for Steve McQueen at his best, it's pretty much the prototype for every Hollywood cop movie that followed, but benefits from good casting (Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon, Simon Oakland, Robert Duvall), better characterisation than the norm and a low key approach from director Peter Yates that makes the highs seem a lot more effective than ...
