24 came back and this time we have a bigger threat, a bigger bad guy and even bigger episodes. I love this season, i always get extra excited when i put the first disc in. The writers always think of fantastic new moments to put in their series and this has loads. As usual you need to overlook the fact that all the big events happen in the hour and that everywhere is within 10 minutes of everywhere but look past that and you will have an amazing time. If you thought that 3 was not as good as the first two then rest assured that this definately is.

I found the first 55 minutes a touch slow at times, but from there on I was glued to the film, based on the true story of Frank Lucas a drug lord in New York. Russell Crowe in particular is as usual in fine form, with a good performance from Denzel Washington too. I've been looking forwards to watching this film since I first heard about it and for me it does not disappoint, I've read on another review stating that the story is preditable, but this is after all a true story, how else are you supposed to portray a true story?, putting things in that did not happen?, after all with a film like this there's really only 2 or 3 ways that this could ever turn out anyway!! This a definate 5 star movie. One of the best films ever made. Dont listen to anyone who says the shark looks fake because it looks a damn site better than any recent CGI attempts(Deep Blue Sea). Its got that whole Speilberg feel about it, the little town of Amity might as well be the same town in ET or Poltergiest. Essentially its 2 movies. The first act follows Chief Brody as he discovers there is a great white shark off the coast of his little town, picking off swimmers. The second act follows Brody, Hooper and Quint as they try to track and catch said shark. The scene on board the Orca where Quint and Hooper compare scars, which then leads to the revelation that Quint is a survivor of the USS Indianappolis, is one of the finest acting performances of all time. ... based in the "Farmington"distrcit of los angeles, the shield is a gritty cop drama. lots of action, sex and drugs this show is compelling viewing. good cops, bad cops and then the strike team this show has everything. although many people may see vic mackey as a dirty cop he is keeping the streets safe in his own way which causes problems for everybody else!!! throw in a cast of different cops and you have the wondeful world of the shield

I expect that if your buying this you'll know what its about so I'll review on the quality of the image if I may. Some films, especially older ones have a poor quality transfer onto DVD, though not this one. Colours and detail are first class, offering up a bright colourful image devoid of any nasties (blocking etc. If you've seen DVDs of the orignial Star Wars the picture quality is on a par with them.

3 stars, lifted only because of the book and not because of this plywood acting efort.... Absolutely resounding good book, runied with the usual complete mahogany cameo from dyer, who is supposed to be the main lead role. He does his best to deliver his nearly below average standard, which, on this occassion, suits the role rather than make it embarrasing, still though, It's embarrasing for Dyer who once more falls far short of being convincing, and also falls shorts of delivering what he is capable off. This last comment is only because I have friends who believe he can do better and not because I have seen any evidence off it....... Could have been so much better....

fight club is one of my favourite movies and i think this film is one of the best of all time.with its cast and crew this film is extremely powerful.and fight club shines with good acting of brad pitt and edward norton.this two disc dvd set also deserves 5 stars in all aspects.with the movie seven i think fight club is best film of brad pitt. with fascinating performances and messages this movie will always be remembered as a masterpiece. i recommend this small treasure box (this dvd set) to everyone who wants to see a really powerful and funny movie.yes this film is both teaches and amuses at the same time.

Slight correction to MarmiteMan's review. Police Squad was shown on TV long before 1989, I beleive 1983. I finished school in 1983 and remember 'discussing' it at school. I believe that ITV (it may have just been local ITV in Hampshire)showed it in the early evening.

Humphrey Bogart is on top form in this John Huston-directed classic film from 1941. The age of the film is not really a factor with this new Special Edition, as the restored picture and sound are faultless and catapult the action onto the screen for maximum enjoyment. The plot centres on the quest to obtain an elusive statuette (as named in the title of the film), but the item is really a 'MacGuffin' since the story is played-out to involve all the matters associated with getting it, rather than the Maltese Falcon itself being significant. This allows the detective Sam Spade character played by Bogart to dominate the film, and the quality of his performance clearly demonstrates why he subsequently rose to stardom.
