I decided to read the Shining Before watching the film. I Loved the book a i feel i would have enjoyed the film alot more if i hadnt read the book 1st, not only did the film take stuff away, but it added stuff that was never mentioned in the book or touched upon, it is a good film and it was scary but its not how i would have made it

I really like the actor David Morse and he steals the show here. Well Labeouf is pretty good here too, in a very boy-next-door way, but Morse is genuinely frightening. The plot unravels in a pretty shoddy way. I mean what happens at the end? I understand it's a fun film but none of the characters look at all shaken up by what's happened; it's a bit sick actually, as if this is what happens regularly.

much camper than rear window, and downright silly in places, it is worth a watch, if that's your cup of tea and i have to admit it is mine.

Dolly Parton used to quip, "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap." The same could be said about Quentin Tarantino's Deathproof, a contemporary film post-produced to look like a low-budget grindhouse movie of the 70s. But the problem isn't the look of the film - it's the story, padded out with long scenes of dull dialogue that take you nowhere. A big disappointment.

For me, the movie itself is a nineties' classic: action, adventure and humour blended together seamlessly to provide a thoroughly enjoyable (if untaxing) two hour break from reality.

Unfortunately, this DVD release is WOEFUL. I could forgive the complete lack of extras (not even a trailer or production notes) but the picture looks like a poor transfer from VHS: it may be anamorphic, but it suffers from clear macro-blocking, colour shifts, artifacing and wholly excessive grain from the opening Warner Bros logo to the end credits. The entire disc takes up less than 3.5gb: given the complete lack of additional material, I find it perplexing that Warner Bros didn't at least use up the remaining free space to give the video a much-needed ... This film fooled me into thinking that Bruce Willis was alive and then it tries to make out he was a ghost all along! So how come he didnt walk through a wall or fall through the floor? No, this is silly. If ghosts did exist they would not wear clothes or go around scaring people. For a more realistic film of ghosts - which don't exist - watch Ghostbusters or Ghost. Avoid this one at all costs.

the second season of the shield starts 4/5 weks after the first season ended. vic mackey's personal life is falling apart as his wife has disappeared with the kids!!! this season sees major changes for all the characters and some new faces on both sides of the fight. throughout the season the strike team are trying to get their hands on their "retirement" fund, which is mostly dodgy dealings which they are known best for. great writing, great acting and the real life feel is still there!!!

I had always enjoyed watching this movie for all the reasons stated in other reviews, but last night I sat through an hour and fifty odd minutes of the director's cut of "Dark City" - released in 1998 and totally ignored by the majority of critics and film goers. In fact, The Director's Cut copy I had was given to me by a friend and, as far as I know, is not available in this country. The plot of this film is about a populace trapped in a perpetually dark city, which is closed down and re-tuned by the controllers. Memories are altered, people put into other slots in the society, and the entire landscape altered as part of the experiment. Essentially it's The Matrix, but without all the silly Kung Fu, shouting and shooting and the pseudo religious clap trap ... Read More:

Fantastic film as we all know, but the quality is not worth paying for a Bluey. Get the DVD at a fraction of the cost, it's just as good.

DVD : Agatha Christie's Miss Marple Collection - Murder she Said / Murder Ahoy / Murder At The Gallup / Murder Most Foul (4 Discs) (Box Set) (DVD)
Some might describe these movies as what we used to laugh at. I must confess that I still do, and I always will laugh at these wonderful old British films.

Margaret Rutherford is the definitive Miss Marple in my opinion. Later productions (for TV) are watchable and enjoyable, and may be more true to Agatha Christie. Here however, is a compelling strength of character and a thick seam of comedy running right through four flawless performances. Somehow, I can watch them again and again, and still laugh at things like a theatrical gesture, or a piece of dryly comic dialogue.

Praise to Plymouth's own Ron Goodwin for composing that distinctive theme that always brings a smile to my face, because I know what is in store.
