Just so no one makes the same mistake I just did, I feel obliged to warn you that these are NOT the Tintin episodes I fondly remember. This is some 90's Canadian remake with awful voice acting. I didn't realise (until now) that the long-lost VHS from my youth that I was hoping to revisit here was of an episode apparently made some time between 1958-63 (The Black Island), ie: the ones that started with the sinister cry of "Herge's Adventures of TINTINNNNN!". From reading some of the other reviews, it would seem some of us have watched this and have consequently doubted our own memories or have just chalked it up to voices being overdubbed. It must be made more clear: No! There are two separate Tintin series'.

That major grumble aside, ... Read More:

I recently bought this DVD in a fit of nostalgia. I remember seeing "Anastasia" when it was first released in cinemas ten(!) years ago now, and I blame it entirely for my lasting obsession with all things Russian. I settled down to watch it, fully expecting my childish whim to be satisfied.

Visually, this is an outstanding film. Half its power is in the appearance of St. Petersburg and Paris, both of which are a feast for the eyes: I defy anyone to not want to live in early-Communist Russia after watching this! Joking aside, real attention has been paid to fabrics and buildings and as a result they look truely magical. The characters, too, move well in front of their backdrop, and I have to congratulate the production team for making them ... Read More:

DVD : Ben 10: The Complete Season 1 [2006] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
This is a fantastic DVD for an incredible price if you have a multi-region DVD player. An essential for Ben 10 fans, both little and big! This is highly reccomended if you do not have Cartoon Network on your TV yet, but you've seen the CITV premieres. I personally started watching Ben 10 in late 2005 (when it first showed on 27th December) on Cartoon Network and loved it ever since. Now lets hope the two feature films (which I missed) air sooner or later on DVD as well as Season 3 and 4. This is a fine addition to my Ben 10 collection of items such as Omnitrixes, toys, games, backpacks and watches as well as DVDs.

my 2 year old twin girls love this dvd! after bathtime they start saying Diego Diego..who is actually more popular than Dora in our house now!
it is fun with lots of things to learn about animals. They sit entranced. i think Diego is less annoying than Dora because he is more sporty and into animals and exploration, and less into princesses.

The Secret of NIMH is an animated rarity. The story is a serious one - nobody bursts into song and there are quite a few disturbing sequences. Don Bluth's masterpiece deserves to be up there with Bambi as one of the greatest animated films of our time. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you see it, especially if you love Don Bluth's other classics like The Land Before Time or An American Tail.

The story itself is simple - a mother mouse (Mrs Brisby) must move her family, but she desperately needs help because her son is seriously ill. She seeks the aid of a clan of super-intelligent rats, led by the wise Nicodemus. As Mrs Brisby uncovers a secret about her late husband's past, the power-hungry rat Jenner seeks out to ruin everything. Okay, ... Read More:

I can't believe this series is available on DVD because it is as much part of my early childhood as anything can be. Back in the days there was a show for kids on German television that combined short films and series such as The Three Stooges and Danger Mouse. It was great for kids whereas today every kids' show is one long, violent and stupid TV ad. I guess it is a little different in Britain since the few British productions that make it to German television are still light years ahead of the stuff that is produced by German television stations.
However, it's great that one can buy this series on DVD now and I guess I have no choice but to do it!

Mulan 2 is the sequal to the classic story of the girl who took her father's armour and when off to join the chinese army to fight off the invading Huns.

This story is about Mulan and Chang escorting Three Princess across China Mulan seem a lot more modern in this film and the princess end up with the soliders from the frist movie.

Mulan and Chang clash a lot more in this movie and the music isn't that great but Eddie Murphy returns as the wise cracking Dragon and lifts in slightly but it lost some of the magic the original had but as nearly always the classic is always better.

Anime is often quite strange, particularly, I suspect, to the Western viewer. If you're looking for a fine example of this then look no further than the utterly bonkers, 'Colorful'. It consists of several short segments loosely joined together by repeating characters and situations, all of them devoted to making fun of the male obsession of catching a glimpse of the hidden delights of female underwear. Resolutely PC viewers may be appalled at this, but bear in mind that it is the male of the species that always comes out worse in these short films, while the females are uniformly portrayed as charming, innocent, intelligent, slightly bemused, or just plain sexy. For a start they are lovingly rendered, whereas the males are deliberately badly drawn, and depicted as ... Read More:
