This volume of Naruto includes another thirteen episodes of this great series but it still suffers the same problems as the first thirteen episodes. The first half of this volume concludes the mission to the Land of Waves, and these episodes are great if a little predictable. The second half of the volume sets up the trainees for the next step on the road to becoming a ninja, the Chunin Exam and although these are interesting they are a bit of a comedown from the previous episodes.

Overall this volume is good but the series still suffers somewhat from an overabundance of recaps and a tendency to repeat itself ad infinitum. The final episode on this volume `Special Report: Live from the Forest of Death' is the worst the series ... Read More:

I've always loved Tenchi, in all of its various guises, but above all I've preferred the original OAV cannon. This box set is the 3rd installment of the OAV story arc (the description Amazon gives is a bit misleading as OAV sessions 1 and 2 are not in this set).

I really enjoyed revisiting the original characters and relished the fact that some (but by no means all) of the hanging plot lines and questions about Tenchi were answered in this DVD set.

Regarding the production quality if the anime. The animation quality is a good standard, the Japanese audio track and accompanying subtitles are good, but the English Dub is below average.

There are some important things to know/do before you consider buying this ... Read More:

Dragon Half has long been a favorite anime of mine, from back in the prehistory of steam powered hand carved stone slabs, more commonly known as VHS. So finally getting around to finding it on DVD was most welcome. Especially considering I no longer have a VHS player.

The basic plot revolves around the titular Dragon Half, Mink, and her pursuit of the singing idol/dragon slayer Dick Saucer. The basic format of the show is I guess a comedy action fantasy show. The way that it makes fun of your standard fantasy cliches is a large part of it's charm, as the focus is firmly on the comedy aspects of the show.

I'm not going to go into massive details of the plot, as frankly that seems somewhat pointless. The purpose of a review is ... Read More:

I remember seeing this classic Manga way back, and it was one of the funniest manga cartoons ever, thanks to the hillarious dubbing, and so without hesitating, I brought this DVD hoping to relive memory times, but was actually disappointed when I heard that all voices had been re-dubbed. Why do they do this? First it was martial arts movies that have been re-dubbed and now its the anime.

The anime itself is pure classic, basically it involves this schoolgirl Mayumi Takahashi that keeps getting tormented by her pervious headmaster and tutor, until a masked avenger known as "Kekko Kamen" shows up and saves the day. This Kekko Kamen is one of a kind (as far as avengers go) as she not only kicks butt, she uses her bare body as a weapon to finish ... Read More:

The character of Lupin was first introduced to me by a certain Hayao Miyazaki in "The Castle of Cagliostro", which was his first feature length film. "Secret of Mamo" was made a year before, and there are certainly a lot of similarities between the two films. Certainly if you enjoyed Castle, this is worth checking out.

What's interesting about these films are the characters - each of which feels three dimensional and wholly worthy of their own film. Fujiko, Jigen and Goemon are all incredibly likable, and it's easy to understand how the Lupin series is so massive in Japan.

The animation quality isn't exactly superb, and the plot is a little involved and slowly paced for what some might consider a "kid's cartoon", but no more so than ... Read More:

The hilariously tragic adventures of a naive robot boy..This is like the kinda programmes you watched as kid, only with no happy endings all wrapped up at the end of the show, in fact poor astro really just cant catch a break! Everything that could go wrong does and it only endears you to him more. The animation itself is stunning considering its age. This is absolutely classic anime, whatever kind of anime youre into your collection is not complete, or never really started, without at least this much astro

After the immense success funimation has had with releasing the remastered Dragon Ball Z series, the same treatment for the movies was inevitable.
This 2 disc collection contains the first two movies: 'Dead Zone' and 'The world's strongest'. It comes in a nice steelbook packaging, like the previous Trunks and Bardock double feature.

I happen to own an older DVD release of these first two movies, (In the first srike box set) and I must say there is an incredible difference in quality. The movies in this set look absoluteley beautiful as the picture has been cleaned up immensly. When I saw these films prior to being remastered, I didn't enjoy them as much. This is because I'd watched seasons 1 to 4 of the remastered DBZ series and the difference in quality ... Read More:

DVD : Memories [1996]
Even though I was not a huge fan of "Akira", I could see that the work Otomo did with the animation was outstanding. In this production, the legendary artist and director, delivers three stories (directed by others) that are not as spectacular in terms of the graphics, but that more than compensate for this with the quality of their plots.

In Magnetic Rose, a spaceship that is ready to return home after one of their typical and uneventful missions gets a distress signal and has to provide assistance. Upon arrival, they find a strange ship, inside what looks like an asteroid. Thus starts a wonderful story, that makes us use our brain throughout its duration and leaves us thinking afterwards. The beautiful Opera music brings an emotion to the action that I have seldom ... Read More:
