as this is the 1st film based from the Tv Series my expectations were high when watching this film. the story itself is wonderful with some moments bringing surprise twists that i really didn't see coming.its gripping and still holds up the excitement and fast paced nature that the TV series had.

A superb movie. You really have to know the story of the series, or else you'll get confused with the characters, but the series is great too.

Of course, this being Cowboy Bebop, the music in the movie is STUNNING. The opening credits song is simply awesome.

Don't ge me wrong on this, but as much as I liked these films I feel as though they were overhyped. No doubt I enjoyed them but just not as much as other anime like Cowboy Bebop or Full Metal Alchemist. I was really looking forward to these with all the great reviews, but ultimately a little dissapointed as they just didn't have much of an impact on me. I feel like I'm being harsh, as I'm slating the films simply because they didn't live up to the hype. But they were still very good. Good plot, involving characters and great animation. But as good as all this was it just wasn't as good as I was led to believe.

Ok lets list some anime conventions; insipid male leads with about as much personality as a bowl of rice, all the female characters are snivelling drips, banal supporting cast, glorious childhood memories, some promise or other that needs fulfilment and dialogue that would make a Furby wince etc etc. Behold "The Place Promised in our Early Days" delivering each in spades. The animation is very well done but is "over done" with every scene seeped in sepias, moonlight etc which I found soon got tiresome. The sci-fi plot is a strange mix of quantum mechanical dream state mumbo jumbo and parallel universes; which while rather silly (sorry all you parapsychologists) is at least quasi-interesting. The musak is dreadful fluffy garbage. I think this would have made a good silent animated ... Read More:

DVD : Avatar - The Last Airbender: The Complete Book 3 Collection (REGION 1) (NTSC)
This third and final season of the truly great Avatar series is something of a season of two halves. The first half of the season sees Aang and his friends go undercover within the Fire Nation in order to wait for the eclipse that will rob the world's firebenders of their power. This first half of the season is good with the group learning new skills and meeting new friends while Zuko tries to settle back into his old life as Crown Prince. Everything changes in the second half of the season with the planned invasion on the Day of Black Sun but not everything goes as planned and the group must find a new strategy to defeat Fire Lord Ozai before he can conquer the world.

This season includes many great episodes with the first half of the season including some truly funny and some ... Read More:

This volume of the excellent Avatar series contains the final four episodes of the shows first season. Of the four episodes on this DVD the first is pretty much a stand alone episode that sees Aang and friends investigate reports of activity in the supposedly abandoned Northern Air Temple. What he finds there depresses and angers him but he is soon forced to put these thoughts aside in order to defend the temple from a fire nation attack. This is an okay episode and although it is really only a filler episode before the season finale, there are some suggestions of the future towards the end.

The other three episodes on this volume are really one extended story rather than distinct episodes in their own right. The first of these episodes sees the trio finally make it to the Northern ... Read More:

Dont get me wrong, I really liked the idea of this series. I'm not a manga purist, so I'm quite happy with dubbed versions, and am used to them being a bit hit and miss. With this series however, the dialogue was spot on. The only problem being the ridiculous British accents. When will the rest of the world realise we're not all from Essex, Manchester or Liverpool? And for me, the crazy piano-inspired Jazz/Funk soundtrack just made the whole thing worse. If you can overlook these things, its a really enjoyable series, with a clever twist on the whole Van Helsing vs Dracula idea.

This is it boys and girls this is where Bleach starts to go from good to great. In this, the begining of the second season battling hollows is left behind for more climatic fights between the soul reapers and the Ryoka. This volume includes episodes twenty-one to thirty-two. The series pick up with Ichigo, Uryu, Orihime, Chad and the cat Yoruichi infiltrate the soul society in there mission to rescue Rukia. The highlight if this volume is without a doubt the showdown between ichigo and Renji Abarai with the volume ending explaining the background to both Renji and Rukia and how they became soul reapers. I highly recomend this dvd, as it is this series that sets the shape of things to come for the shows later series.

`Ghost in the Shell' and `Akira' are often hailed as something of a turning point for Japanese Animated film - it's grown up, articulate, deep.

When you watch this DVD, if it's the first time you've seen the film then much of what you see feels familiar. And that's not surprising considering this has embedded itself deep into film culture - take the opening credits for example and you'll see the direct influence on American thought-provoker - the Matrix.

This film presents concepts which take some thinking about to fully understand, definitely a film to be watched twice. This feels more like a live action film than anime, and that's not all down to the beautifully detailed artwork, it's due to the realistic feel of the story. It's far fetched - but not too far-fetched that you ... Read More:
