DVD : Kate Bush - The Whole Story [1986]

Great album with all my favourite tracks. How disappointed I was though with the revamped new vocal for Wuthering Heights. It was overproduced too much backing and Kate's voice dare I say did sound rather tinny and harsh.

The rest of the tracks are super Cloudbusting is great and all my old favourites.

I must track down the original wuthering Heights as I have them all on vinyl but not CD.

right from the get go the sound is terrible. It fades in & out totally ruining the music. If you want this title go for the 'inferior' VHS version. The DVD version will reduce you to pulling your hair out.

DVD : Brassed Off [1996]
Channel Four developed Brassed Off and The Full Monty at the same time. A man called David Aukin, I think had to decide which to make. He could only choose one, so he chose Brassed Off.

Although The Full Monty is an excellent film he made the right choice as Brassed Off is more complex with a greater insight into the problems facing "old" industries in the 1990's in Yorkshire.

Well done Mr Aukin and everyone who worked on this brilliant film.

Sade can at times be a bit well, monotone, but her early performance live DVD here shows what an entertainer she can be, doing much of her routine barefoot, Sade Adu glides through the set as angelically as you would expect and more. Sade can't be appreciated the same unless she's live. This is different to the 'Lover's Live' DVD though there are similarities in tracks, the latter is definitely the best Sade live DVD, but as an added extra, you can't go wrong with this purchase either. A much loved part of my collection.

It finally arrived. I've only watched disc 1 so far - but it was worth the wait. Opening with " If you're going to San Francisco" the memories of that era started to come back. I now have the 3 major festivals of the 60s/70s so I can escape the stresses of today for hours at any time.

My biggest gripe is that, having paid the price of the DVDs + Vat I then get stung by HM Customs for a further £14.

Given that I would recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys festivals and music. Janis Joplin and Otis Redding on the same lineup - awesome

DVD : U2 - Zoo TV (Limited Edition)
Moving away from the America themed (obsessed?)'Joshua Tree' era and directing their attention towards Europe(mostly Germany) with the startling 'Achtung Baby' and 'Zooropa',U2 followed the yellow-brick road to Oz and at the Sydney Cricket Stadium performed their finest recorded concert. As the pre-concert PA belts out 'Television The Drug Of The Nation' by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy you can almost taste the anticipation of the Australian audience as giant TV screens depict images of Nazi-Germany,state control and tell us to 'WATCH MORE TV!'.The camera zooms in on Bono, dressed in leather, siloueted in a spotlight and elevated on a platform while kicking his jack-booted feet to waist height. He cooly throws his cigarette away and joins the rest ...
