A biography of Elvis in two formats. One disc shows the shorter version with some funy x-rated Elvis comments (the backstage and in-car scenes) while the second disc shows a longer version with the x-rated comments overdubbed to hide what Elvis actually says. The film itself is quite accurate and to a new viewer quite interesting. In my opinion the end is fairly depressing as it depicts a tragic end to the superstar. I think the film could have done without that. Why make it seem as if Elvis' final years were terrible. They were not. Yes he may have had some problems towards the end but the mid seventies were his absolute best years as far as millions of people are concerned. The point is that they should have glorified and ... Well, most ardent fans would already own it by now, but if not then you need it. This may well be regarded as Jimi's Classic Album, probably for the guest musician credentials alone, but all the albums he recorded for Track Records could also be included. Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love and Electric Ladyland were, for many fans, Jimi's finest, and this superb documentary gives you the nuts and bolts, the sadness and the tears and thankfully, Chas Chandler's and Noel Redding's input, as they have since passed on. For their time, those 3 albums were absolute classics for their immense imagination and musicianship, so this DVD chronicling Electric Ladyland will perhaps give some small insight into the making of the other 2.

Quite simply one of the best live recordings ever made. Wonderful "rockabilly" and "rock 'n roll" songs, brilliantly played in a "low key" show that's packed full of the enthusiasm that only live music can generate. Eric Clapton, George Harrison & Ringo Starr do much more than just turn out to add "megastar" interest as they're quickly swept up by the electric atmosphere of the evening and, along with Dave Edmunds, Rosanne Cash and a host of others, become part of a hugely talented backing group who are clearly having the time of their lives playing along with a rock legend on top form. The audio CD included is a refreshing change as it is the first time Madonna has released a live CD, and of course the tracks featured are all great. However i would have very much liked to see more of her oldies included on it that she performed in the show. These woukd include hits such as 'Papa don't preach', 'Express yourself', 'Crazy for you', 'Material girl' and 'Hanky Panky'. Up until the Reinvention tour i was always got this feeling that Madonna would rather forget her old material and to me that is a real shame considering fans like myself have been following her from day one. The documentary included is the perfect sequel to 1990's Truth or Dare(In bed with Madonna) and shows how far she has come and grown as a person both artistcally ... Read More:

Stone deals in heroic archetypes and composite characters. He could be thinking of Janis and Hendrics as well. People that played for keeps, although no one's role model! His work is distinctively Oliveresque drama and in your face, and his sets are chaotic to everyone but the genius (conscious and subconscious) inside him. There's a lot to read in-between the lines, a lot of thought-history of the latter 20th when the mind was "breaking through to the other side". ANY other side! I once saw The Doors and was underwhelmed as Jim gave his drunken stylized insults just like in the movie. We all chanted "Led Zepellin!Led Zepellin!", the next act. No mayhem. This will be a very short review, because the point is... well, "The Point" is... it's one of those rare things that I feel is so perfectly and uniquely self-contained and wonderful that any attempt to describe it would harm it in some way. It just has to be watched. I know that's a bit Zen, but that's how this film makes me feel. I love it! I wish it were on Region 2...

hey the up in smoke tour has been said to be the biggiest and bestest hip hop show to be shown and captured on film and oh my god was the reviews right this amazing hip hop concert was shot in 2001 and feautires the rappers ice cube, Eminem, Dr Dre and snoop dogg with apprences from xzibit nate dogg D-12 and devin the dude this awsome event took place in boston and all kicks of with ice cube and the westside connection and then eminem appers after ice cube with hardcore songs from his slim shady and marshal mathers albums as well as his part in the Notorious Big song dead wrong and rellly hots up the concert but the flame is relly lit when dr dre and snoop dogg kicks it all up with songs from dre's 2001 albu and with classics from his the chronic but also this is quality ...
