beautiful movie, based on the theory taht dinosaurs lived even after teh meteorite struck the earth. the decision to combine real life landscape with computer animation fits erally well and i think add to the story

After the disappointment of Eps2 and 3, the Clone Wars goes a long way towards rekindling the excitement I've always associated with Star Wars. It returns to the non-stop action rollercoaster feel of the Luke Skywalker days, where the heroes gallop across the galaxy from one hot spot to the next, light-sabres blazing and blasters, err, blasting. The style of animation takes some getting used to: it's nothing like a realistic or slick as Pixar, so you won't be seeing images like those in the feature-length Beowulf or Final Fantasy films. Yes this is basically a kids film, but as a 40+ person with no kids who has purchased the DVD, I'll happily own up to being an adult who loves this film. This film set the benchmark for computer animated films when it was released in 1995 and it still looks good today. The story is simple and the characters are marvellous. Whoever thought of the idea that Buzz Lightyear could be a toy who believes he really is a Space Ranger deserved an Oscar. Its a brilliantly conceived idea, which has a funny and at times touching script. Its also worth mentioning the that the songs are by Randy Newman, a vastly underrated musician and songwriter, whose Uncles wrote the music for some the great Hollywood movies of the 40's and 50's. I too thought I had a slightly dodgy copy seeing some picture wobble, but I can see from other reviews I'm not alone. That said I would buy it again just as it is, my favourite is good old Windy Miller. I forgot that its not like Postman Pat's more modern animation silly me it was 1966 after all. For the moment my 2 year old daughter prefers Postman Pat, Bob, Sam and the Little Red Tractor but it was as much for me as my kids and I am not disappointed. A bargin price too, no more than a fancy cup of coffee. Go on buy it and remember how it was. I bought Trumpton too, don't miss that one either!

Shaun the Sheep - Saturday Night Shaun is one of those rare things that can be enjoyed by everyone. It makes me laugh out loud, and I've enjoyed watching it as a family with my nieces (aged 8 and 6) and my parents (in their 70s!). Wonderfully observed characters, good story-lines. We watched each short more than once, and everyone had a particular favourite, so it's good value because you want to go back to it again and again.

Depending on when you were born, The Clangers dvd is either going to be 5-star knockout brilliant, or minus-several-million-stars 'what the heck is this?' rubbish. There's just a chance that if you didn't grow up following the antics of these animated characters then you might still be captured by the innocent delight of knitted pink mousey things which live on a blue moon and hide under saucepan lids. However, I suspect that it's one of those cultural moments which might pass later generations by, so if you haven't seen The Clangers before then you should rent rather than buy, just to see if your sense of humour stretches to blue string pudding and the Soup Dragon.
