The animation is incredible: the facial expressions, the body movement, the play of light, the attention to detail takes your breath away. Add to this a superb soundtrack, and you realise why it got such good critical reviews. It is a traditional story, but has been told without so much of that awful syrup and candy so beloved by Disney and, I regret to say, Pixar. The mock 'reality program' slant was inspirational, as was the cutting forward to dialogue that explained events in the past. Sorry folks, you have to pay attention to this film. My son absolutely love this DVD and watch it almost daily. Very funny and well thought out. I also enjoy this, and can certainly relate to it in many ways.

Disapointed with this collection. I got it for my young son, aged 4 and it is nothing like the original far more gentle 1967 series. It is certainly not aimed at younger viewers and the PG rating is right. Language and level of violence not suitable in my opinion for younger children.Fine if you're a teenager but not for Spidey's youngest fans. Plus the animation is very jerky and fast moving not good for them...or me either. Guess I'll have to await until the original series is released in region 2 !

This DVD was good value for the price I paid.My son adores all things musical & singalong so I thought this would be great,he really enjoys the songs he knows.However,there are quite a few songs which are not so popular & so he rapidly looses interest.The good thing about this DVD is that you can pick which songs are played.I highly recommend this DVD for children aged 3 & above.My son is a little younger so may explain the lack of interest.Overall an entertaining DVD,but no replacement for Jim Jam & Sunny.

I've previously bought the first(on video) and second of these films, and have just sat down to buy the box set , and felt I had to respond to the previous review. I think the first film 'explains' christmas in such a modern way; it has certainly helped me answer some awkward questions over the years!! Yes, it is a slushy christmas film, just what a lot of us want at this time of year! The second film, my kids actually prefer because of the 'bad' santa, and last christmas we loved the third at the pictures and couldnt wait for it to be released. Obviously each film is about Santa, and how it affects his family, etc around him. But each one is so uniquely different in its main story line, but because most of the actors filmed all ... Watched this on a rainy Sunday afternoon with my six year old. Next rainy Sunday afternoon I might watch something a bit more upbeat. Schindlers List perhaps!

If you're a fan of Shane Meadows (This is England et al) you'll probably love this too. A very very cool, witty and dry look at life in the 80s through the eyes of a neglected little tough guy and his mate from an Amish-like community. Sweet, meticulous and full of brilliant dialogue - plus great acting from the little nippers - it's a new British classic.

I honestly wasn't expecting much out of this. So I was very suprised when I loved it from start to finish! It has everything we have come to expect of a classic Disney film.. a strong hero/heroine, a hilarious sidekick character, a great soundtrack and a beautiful display of animation. Yes, it really is a great film, with a powerful story and some great characters. Highly recommended.
