I recently got this DVD for my birthday, and we all had a great time watching it. This DVD collection (also on blu-ray) contains all of Pixar's short films from The Adventures of Andre and Wally B (1984) to Lifted (2006). Although many of these shorts have appeared on home video releases of Pixar's feature length films (be it VHS, DVD or Blu-Ray), this DVD is still well worth it because not only is it nice to have them all available in one place, but also to experience Pixar's earlier works such as Tin Toy, Red's Dream and the aforementioned Andre and Wally B. With a central performance by Alistair Sim that is nothing short of brilliant this movie deserved to be restored to its original condition for DVD but wasn't. I have not seen any prior reviews that commented on the crappy quality of this print but crappy it is, sadly. Cut to fit the TV screen, it is a poor quality print. No subtitles. No closing credits. A lack of sharpness and definition to the picture and sound. The "extras" are not worth bothering with. Disappointing is what it is. Kathleen Harrison is superb as is the supporting cast of British film luminaries. They and Alistair deserved better. Cheap and looks it. Bah! Humbug!!

Network haven't played around with this series, it's exactly as I remember it. Just as watchable, just as beautiful... just as human. That shot of the water at dusk, the waves lapping, the heat. It's pure nostalgia, pure magic. I can't recommend this highly enough! ...and the poor film and sound quality? Well, it's like listening to 30s blues... the scratches and blips are absolutely essential.

I was looking for the theme tunes for the Trumpton, Chigley and Camberwick programmes, when I stumbled on this little gem! After watching the first few episodes I happened to mention to my brother about buying and watching them, and now I have been requested to buy a set for him too! A wonderful reminiscence about such a beautiful little world! I'm glad I went hunting around Amazon that day.

I bought the R1 version of this, hence why I know what's here :) Today's British kids may know some of the Sesame Street gang if they have watched Elmo's World, Play with Me, Sesame, or the newest edition showing on BBC2 NI, Sesame Tree, but it's just NOT the same. I may sound like a nostalgia buff here just muttering about the good old days, but even those who last saw Sesame Street here in the 80's can tell you that Sesame Street proper is an entirely different animal, with a greater variety of learning topics and tools at its disposal. It is for this reason that I have, for the past few years, collected various of the R1 Sesame Street dvds, and while excellent, they are basically stand alone specials, and not the actual show. Like Simono I too was disappointed by the Cinemascope. In fact we did not bother watching it as it only took up the centre third of the television screen. Same with DVD of Guys and Dolls, like looking through a letter box. Did not watch that either. Amazon should point out the significance of Cinemascope. We cannot be the only people to suffer with this.

This dvd is brilliant. This is the first time I have ever written a review, but felt I must as this was such a good purchase. Bought this a year ago for my 2 year old daughter ... she is now 3 and still watch's it!! The dvd completely catches her attention and she is totally engrossed until it finishes. Highly recommended
