DVD : Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy [2004]
With all the bad fashion, bad hair and bad catch phrases you could ever want this film serves up every cliche associated with a classic 70's flick.

Scenes like the jazz flute playing exlpoits of Ron, the tampering of the autocue and the fight scene between rival news teams really are silly beyond belief.

Thoroughly recommended.

Very entertaining stuff, a (mostly) superb cast and an absolutely cracking script.
The whole thing is let down by Andie MacDowell. WHY does this woman get work? She couldn't act if she had a gun to her head. Her delivery of the line "Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed" is so cringemakingly bad it's hilarious. In fact her entire performance is utterly dire. It'd be a 4* film if it had a different female lead. Anyone would do. Lily Savage would have been preferable, really.

This is one of my favourite films of all time. Its an unusual Love story, of 2 people who desperately need each other to eventualy find happiness. It^s amusing, warm and has the perfect ending.! James Spader is superb as usual. Above all it^s not the everday done a million times love story, it^s something realy different and entertaining.

"Evan Almighty" is an entertaining flick in which a U. S. Congressman, played by Steve Carell, who is personally contacted by God, (aren't they all), portrayed by Morgan Freeman, who instructs him to build an Ark. That is the unusual part. John Goodman is excellent in a supporting role as the Committee Chairman who tries to use Evan's vote until Evan finally gets too weird for the Chairman's taste. Laugh your way through the rest of the movie while Evan gradually and reluctantly accepts his fate and deals with its bizarre demands. This is a great movie for anyone looking for 96 minutes of pure comedy.

This is a surprising show. Before watching any of it you may be inclined to think that this is a comedy, well in reality it's far more serious than that. It covers a wide range of topics (often repeatedly) that, as a Brit, I often don't hear about.

As the official review says, it's often about the politics behind the show, usually trying to reconcile comedy and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Nowadays George Bush jokes are a dime a dozen and the show has a few of its own but as Simon Styles (one of the comedy performers) points out: the bandwagon has grown light and the real comedy should be about the people breaking their legs as they jump off it. The main premise of the show seems to be about the wrangling between corporate America attempting to ... Read More:

People that rated this to be 1 star are complete idiots, do not listen to those fools, they have either never seen Star Wars, or prefe South Park, (Because apparently South Park is full of mature, deep, humour?)

This spoof is absolutely brilliant and comes with plenty of laughs (once again, they are mainly star wars jokes, so if you haven't seen Episode 4, you better!)

My favourite has to be when Cleveland-D2 gets shot and he shouts "WHAT AM I? ARTOO-PAC?"

A very clever, very funny, very well written spoof of a Cult Classic.

Family Guy does it again.

10/10

Everything about this works so well. The scenery is a cross between cartoon, theatre and dreamy, and the stories belong in there. The characters are individual and amusing, and the cast are obviously having a good time with the script and their roles, and for the nine episodes of season one there isn't a bad one. The down side to this dvd set is there's no extras, which is a shame. I would like to see the cast talk about it or the people behind the scenes who dream it all up but I haven't knocked a star off because of that. The series is original, fresh and welcoming each time I've sat down to an episode.

Not more than 10 minutes ago my wife and i finished watching series 1 and we thought it was brilliant. We normally watch 24 or lost on dvd but thought we'd give this ago and i'm so glad we did. Not a dull episode. Not one.

Am just about to order series 2. I hope it's as good.

It starts out nice, with a decent (albeit unoriginal) plot, dedicated actors and fair direction. There are problems both with the script and the execution, however. "Death at a funeral" sets out to be your standard British comedy, with intricacies and comic plots like improper nudity, irritating relatives and poo in somebody's face. Sounds promising, doesn't it. Moving on to the story lines, there's plenty of potential: a funeral, love, drugs that make people "funny", a gay midget with naughty photographs, not to mention the old coot in a wheelchair who needs help to reach the toilet. So with all this; all these potentially funny story lines, and good actors too... why doesn't it work? Well, it just doesn't. It falls short in several areas.

First of all there are ... Read More:
