I have no doubts that this will forever be my favourite film. The story is spot on, the characters perfect and Pierce Brosnan at his absolute best. I can't think of a better way to spend a few hours in front of the TV.

Stunning movie - easily the best American urban/police thriller I've seen to date!
VERY stylish and often brutal, this hooks from start to finish.
It's not action packed, rather delivering thrills in short, sharp bursts. It's very atmospheric with an incredible central performance from Denzel Washington as antihero/villain, Detective Alonzo Harris, and strong support from Ethan Hawke as rookie officer, Jake Hoyt.
Look out for small roles from the likes of Snoop Dogg & Dr Dre, in this unflinching portrayal of the very mean streets of LA. Also, Scott Glen, Cliff Curtis & Tom Berenger. It's a real tough guys movie BUT not in the cliched action roles that we saw back in the '80s.
The direction from Antoine Fuqua is extremeley ... Read More:

When Nat Cole's smooth, melancholy delivery sends "Rather Have the Blues Than What I've Got" out of Mike Hammer's car radio late one night, we know nothing good is going to happen. Hammer has just picked up a desperate young woman named Christina who had been running down an isolated California two-lane rode.

"The room is dark and gloomy, you don't know what you're doing to me
The way it has got me caught, I'd rather have the blues than what I've got."

The lyrics might not be good, but Cloris Leachman's frightened urgency as Christina sets the movie on the fast track. It's not long before Hammer's car is forced off the road, he's beaten senseless, and wakes up on a bed listening to shrieks of pain as Christina, hanging from ... Read More:

there is nothing bad i could say about this film. Cary Grant is as usual fantastic, suave and sophisticated and humourous to boot. This film involves everything that makes a great film, twisted story, comic moments, a stunning yet mysterious woman, and a wrongly accused man who has to defy the odds to get away. It's brilliant, has some fantastic actors in it and is a real treat for anyone who can appreciate a cleverly mastered film!!

as you can see from all the other reviews this is one of those films that polarises opinion. and really it's a question of whether you get what it's trying to do or not.

It's the story of a mysterious man called mister smith, who happens to be incredibly adept at using guns. coming to the aid of a pregnant woman who is being hunted by hitmen he is left literally holding the baby, and goes on the run with the child to protect it from a hitman called mister hertz. There's a big conspiracy going on here that smith and his only ally, a streetwalker called DQ, do their best to unhearth whilst trying to keep the child safe.

it could be an ordinary action movie, but it's done in a very over the top style, with some outrageously over the top action sequences, filled ... Read More:

A strange film by Michelangelo Antonioni. It is a whole period of our life that is coming back. 1966. They dressed bizarre in those days. They behave slightly crazy too. The world was entering the new phase or virtuality. The cold war was a virtual war secreting a virtual peace. The long dreamed for well-off comfort was coming up for the few, the happy few who could follow a track that took them away from the factories. Cars were introducing virtual independence. The new generation of records and turntables and record players was bringing some quite acceptable sound home: virtual music. And real music was not better with all the amplifiers and the loudspeakers: virtual music again. Even life itself was becoming virtual due to the new cameras and the new photography, so fine that even ... Read More:

Why mess with success? That seems to be the idea behind this season of Monk. And while it wasn't as strong as some of the other seasons have been, it was certain still fun.

The season opens with Sarah Silverman reprising her role as Monk's biggest fan. She hires Monk (Tony Shalhoub) to find out who is framing her dog for murder. The catch? The dog died before the murder took place.

And there is more fun to be had. Monk suspects Captain Stottlemeyer's (Ted Levine) new girlfriend of murder. Natalie's (Traylor Howard) daughter Julie (Emmy Clarke) gets her first boyfriend and learns to drive. Monk takes a job as a security guard at his bank to catch a robber. And he must deal with the consequences of shooting Santa. And he falls under the spell of cult leader Howie ... Read More:

First off, this is a well-made movie with a good script and cast. Shia LaBeouf is totally believable as the teenager trying to coping with the loss of his father and lead a normal life.

When he suspects his neighbour of being a serial killer, the momentum really picks up, with some great scenes of tension as he goes about trying to prove his theory. The character of Ronald, who is Kale's best friend, is one of the best sidekick characters I've seen for ages and helps the main characters coalesce.

I agree with a previous reviewer who said the film doesn't know what it is....comedy/thriller/horror...and it's fair to say I would have loved to have been scared more, but all in all, this was a good effort.

A strange and disquieting film more than an interesting one. It tries too much to demonstrate something and that something is just as unreal as the mind who thought it over, if over at all. A drug lord in New York is supposed to go spend seven years in prison. He must have been convicted and sentenced by a court. So what is he doing free outside the prison he is supposed to go to by his own means tomorrow? What's more on the very day before this move to the prison his apartment is raided by the police with a proper search warrant and money and drugs are found in his own couch, apparently on some information given to the police by some fink. And he is not arrested on the spot. So the whole film is a dream, the dream about the last day before going to prison during which the ex-drug-lord is meeting ... Read More:

This is not a great movie.

I watched Blood Simple for the first time a few weeks ago and really enjoyed watching Francis McDermott. She was fantastic in Fargo. Fargo was a great movie with all the right moves, excellent tone, bizarre characters, and a flatly affected but very strong pregnant cop played by McDermott. The Coen brothers are known for their slightly off-kilter films. Raising Arizona with Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter was a very successful and entertaining quirky movie. Strange characters and bizarre situations can be very entertaining. The formula just doesn't work in Miller's Crossing.

Gabriel Byrne stars as a dirtball gangster. He's the slimey no. 2 to Albert Finney in Finney's massive gangster world. Finney is the real power in this mystery city and Byrne's ... Read More:
