This is a different kind of season to the first with some absolutely brilliant moments.

If you can overlook the fact (something you always have to with 24) that all big events happen on the hour then you will love the way each episode leaves you begging to watch more. Classic episodes all the way through.

Again there are twists and turns in this series too, if season 1 didn't make you trust noone then this one surely will.

The thing which is perhaps most horrifying about this movie is that the majority of the racist points made by the main character ring true. His intelligence, or more correctly the intelligence of the writing, means he can articulate well and promote his opinion convincingly. He sells his perspective and it is easy to understand how youngsters, or those who are perhaps lost in the world could be taken in.

I've read criticism from one reviewer (Soru Takahashi) that the transition from the old bitter, hate-driven Derek to the new one is under developed and the younger brother is all too willing to accept the new Derek without question. I agree with this. However, I don't believe it detracts from the credibility of the movie as much ... Read More:

This is the one I put on! Have had a videoed version from the TV for a long time but it wore a bit thin from over-use so have just replaced with DVD version.
There's so much to like...the beautiful scenery for a start, the chap who plays Matthew (double yum), the heart-warming tale of community spirit (where did it go?..) the goofy dealer who plays dungeons and dragons, looks like he might duff you up but plays bouncy folk music in his wacky car, and the bit with Matthew and Grace are alone on the beach which cracks me up every single time - I mean really, laugh out loud stuff, it's contagious and a real boost to your health!
No deep and meaningful story but it's so English and charming and lovable, just like Martin Clunes! Wonderful.

DVD : Edge Of Darkness - The Complete Series [1985]
I first saw Edge of Darkness back in the Eighties as a teenager and was truly unnerved by its plausability and "reality".
I bought this item recently on a whim, as it was cheap, mainly to see if I still enjoyed it; I was concerned I would see it as a bit kitsch with wobbly sets !
I watched all six episodes almost back to back and was surprised by how gripping it still is and the amazing performance by the cast, particularly the brilliant Bob Peck. A great loss to the performing arts. There is a raft of very strong and believable cameos, particularly engaging is that of Pendleton and Jedburgh.

For those looking for a genuinely captivating, gritty British drama, made with very high production values and brilliant plot, Edge of Darkness ... Read More:

For some reason this is probably my least favourite season but nevertheless it is still absolutely fantastic. There are some epic moments and episodes here that i would consider my absolute favourites but something just relegates it below the others, i don't know what it is, maybe the bad guy isn't up scratch, either way saying this is my least favourite is hardly an insult.

Top stuff and Jacks rawest ever moment is in this series.

This landmark film is let down on DVD by an unsympathetic transfer from a less than wonderful print which jiggles about during the titles and betrays a lot of grain, scratches, and other flaws. As noted, the non-anamorphic picture doesn't help - you have to "zoom in" to get the picture to fill your screen - although the sound is pretty good and the extras are excellent.

The Blu-Ray release is on 1st December 2008, and we should end up with a much better-looking picture. It deserves no less.

Michael Caine stars as Charlie Croaker, a newly realised prisoner, who sets about putting into motion a plan to steal a fortune, $4,000,000, in gold bars from the Italians. Until certain events come to pass, he is unable to set the plan into motion. He sneaks into the prison, where he interrupts Mr Bridger's nightly toilet break. Once undue reparations have come to pass onto the unfortunate Charlie Croaker, Mr Bridger finds an interest in the scheme. Once he, Croaker, has selected the team, and carried out rudimentary training he transports them to Italy; where they encounter the Italian Mafia. One of the best movies ever made, this has everything. The action is crisp, the situation powerful and the whole film delivers right across the board. If you haven't seen this, buy it immediately. You fool.

Roger Thornhill (Grant) is mistaken for another man by a group of foreign spies and after a few unfortunate events, finds himself on the run.

North by Northwest is recognized as one of Alfred Hitchcock's finest films and with the adrenaline soaked narrative and a great central performance it is easy to see why.

Cary Grant (Charade) delivers a sensational portrayal of advertising executive Roger Thornhill, a simple man who is mistaken for someone else. Thornhill is wonderfully sarcastic, very charismatic and plaudits must go to Grant who has created an original hero, an ordinary man who turns himself into an action hero within a short space of time in Alfred Hitchcock's wonderfully realistic world.

Hitchcock's action styled direction is picture ... Read More:
