This film had a huge impact on me when I watched it growing up. Yes it is a long film and at times it is heavy going but stick with it. Amazing performances from McQueen and Hoffman. This is the greatest true story of escape ever told. The ending is the most moving, sad and thought provoking I've seen in a film. Long after the credits have gone you will still have Papillon in your head. They don't make films like this anymore.

Honestly, I cannot figure out this movie. There is undoubtedly the will to tell about some aspects of N.Y. history, but this is no historical movie. It is neither an action movie (despite the abundant blood and violence), nor a romance. Characters are played a bit too cartoon-type, the script is not really stricking. With all respect for Martin Scorsece and the effort placed to make this movie(reason for which I rate it 2 stars and not 1 star), if one has to wash the car, one better spend his time that way.

A film I never tire of watching. Superb performances from Redford and Newman as they outwit the late Robert Shaw in the big con. The film twists and turns but never bores. The cast reads like "Who's Who" and they give of their best. The script is outstanding and I'll bet this one was great fun to make. If you have not seen it, then whatever you do, DO NOT MISS IT. You will not be disappointed. Must be one of the top movies of all time.

I absolutely wanted to own the episode entitled 'taken by the flood' in which Elliot Cowan manages the feat of playing the most attractive ,charismatic and frightening villain that ever existed.How his character can fascinate and repulse at the same time is incredible!Cowan does it with a nonchalance and an aplomb that is not to be found in an average actor.The other episodes, although not as good, are very entertaining nonetheless and shot with such lavish spendour that they are a joy to watch. Added to this is the masterful performance of David Suchet who wears Poirot like a second skin.Settings, costumes, performances, everything is first class, the only very slight problem being Suchet's English accent which can sometimes be heard when he speaks French.

What a film!. Everyone should watch & understand what we on earth might end up like. This Film offers good acting with limited effects, offering none stop chilling action story from start to end. The story allows you to wounder what Soylent Green is about, & why are the rich always better off. I read most of the reviews before renting from Amazon offering good inside to this film. Should you watch too, then yes. I would like to see this film played out each year on T.V for all to see. If you're after saving some space on the shelf and a little bit of cash over buying the individual releases then this is what you want. The packaging is a competent fold out digipack style. The films themselves look excellent in High Def. Some people say there's not much improvement over the recent UEs. However the extra detail is apparent, of course it is. There's only so much upscaling DVDs can get you. The set is encoded for regions A,B,C.

'Shoot em up' (SEU), the film. Inane? An implausible plot? Avoid at all costs? I do not think so. Yes we already know it's not a serious film, so why attempt to analyse it in the same way as a film that professes to have a hidden or deep message? The title alone implies the action and plot line of a simple video game and this is the heart of the matter. Anybody that has ever played 'Time Crisis' using a 'Light Gun' will testify to that. Kill the baddies and save the girl. Simple. The plot is hardly relevant. In SEU, a baby has been added to the plot line to add some more fun. The one-liners are very good, and the scriptwriters have shared them fairly between the characters, so all the scenes are subject to humourous comment at one point or another. Read More:

Fantastic. This film has plenty of everything you might want in this area. It's great entertainment, has the tang of reality plus a good deal of violence, domestic aggro and an interesting take on mob life. It also has Al Pacino, Johnny Depp and Michael Madsen putting in top performances, and that can't be a bad thing. Very, very good movie.
