Perfectly written, cast and filmed there really is no television series that can rival Band of Brothers. The Blu Ray release only adds to the experience, the 1080p picture is perfection but perhaps more importantly the DTS-HD sound is simply stunning if run through a home cinema surround sound system, the battle scenes are awesome and the explosions will have ornaments falling off your wall. The sound also brings to life the superb score by Michael Kamen, there is not a finer movie or TV soundtrack around, a true masterpiece. Full credit to Hanks, Spielberg, the BBC and HBO for giving us this classic and absolute respect to the real men of Easy Company, totally inspiring.

A masterpiece of TV. The acting is incredible from the lead right through to the smallest extra. In the best tradition of good TV we laughed out loud, cringed with shame and cried with sadness. What is most interesting about this fantastic show is that the obvious characters (Ja'mie and Mr G), although brilliant, will not affect you in the same way as Jonah - a brilliant study in not fitting in. A comedy that made me think...excellent.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang [1968] 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' is my second favourite after 'The Wizard Of Oz'. 'Chitty' stars Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, James Robertson Justice and Robert Helpmann. Though this release onto DVD is the Full Screen version of this film i personally prefere it due to the fact this is a wonderful transfere to Disc, with it's lovely deep colours and so beautifully restored it looks like a modern film. Dick Van Dyke is superb as the children's father who rescues a vintage racing car from a junk yard and gets the car working again. He decides the car should be called 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and he tells his children a story of how the car is magic and able to float and fly. Everything is so wonderful about this film, this includes the ... Read More:

The Sound Of Music (2 Disc 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition) [1965]
With nearly three hours of snow-capped Swiss mountains, a sprawling family of six children, extravagant parties, picnics and family concerts in Salzburg and buckets of encouragement from Rogers and Hammerstein, it's no wonder that this film is also called THE SOUND OF MONEY. It won FIVE ACADEMY AWARDS and has taken hundreds of millions dollars. It's the surprisingly simple story of Maria(JULIE ANDREWS), a nun who's Governess to the rigidly disciplined children of an Austrian Military Captain(CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER). She so enchants him that he breaks off his engagement to a socialite baroness. In the meantime, Maria, teaches the children to sing and the whole family is soon giving a concert in Salzburg, after which they ... Read More:

Impeccable acting. Speech and deportment faultless. How nice to be able to hear every word spoken, unlike some recent Austen adaptations, e.g. Kate Beckinsale and Keira Knightley, both of whom were far too 21st century slovenly.

Based on a 1980 Stephen King novella, The Mist doesn't fail to capture the imagination of horror and thriller fans alike.

David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and his son Billy make a trip to the local store after a fierce storm hits their little town. It isn't long before the foul mist lurking heavily on the horizon encroaches on them, and with it, brings new concerns of terror when people come out screaming "there's something in the mist!"

War Sirens howl in the air, the local religious Zealot begins spouting out promises of The End of Days, and the bravest of brave make attempts to venture out into the mist only to become lunch to unseen creatures.

Think of John Carpenter's "The Fog", ditch the betrayed vengeful pirates, throw in a store, some brilliantly written characters ... Read More:

My 2 year old adores this film and will watch it every day if allowed!! She mimiks the penguins walking (Hilarious!) and even sings along to a lot of the songs. Even though I've watched it with her hundreds of times I haven't tired of it. It is truly a great movie.

I dont know about you but when I watch a movie I know when I have been impressed because time just flies by.'La Vie En Rose' is a movie that would have failed if the role of Edith Piaf had been badly played.Without question the performance of Marion Cotillard is fantastic and she fully deserved her best actress Oscar. It is a display of passion, desire, heartbreak and turmoil and it is brilliantly executed. Some of the scenes as Piaf enters old age are superb.I say old age but Piaf actually wasn't that old when she died but Cotillard captures her stoop, her fragillity fantastically well.

Don't be put off by the sub-titles as this is a movie that will hook you and make you appreciate just how good acting can be.It isn't a one woman show by any means as there are other fine performances. But is is Marion Cotillard ... Read More:
