Mike Leigh has popped up throughout my adult life. I remember skiving university finals revision to see, "Life is Sweet', I watched "Secrets and Lies" at least three times, I saw "Career Girls" at a time when my life was falling apart and now one Saturday evening aged 40, I put on the DVD of "Happy-Go-Lucky". Leigh is a Thomas Hardy for the suburbs. The gloom usually hangs heavily over his work, but Poppy provides light melancholy mixed with brightly-burning love. The flamenco scene shows how he has become the master of comedy, character and setting. Leigh can make a Tesco Express look romantic. Really enjoyed this film and I am really am not easy to please (so I am told). No need for me to add words to what other more literate reviewers have said. Really good.

So far it is the weakest season of Scrubs, I personally maintain that Scrubs was at it's funniest season 2 and season 5 probably with 4 shortly after. But here the writing got sloppy and the actors do begin to try to compensate, it doesn't work. Again though, as many others say there are enough funny moments to make this a worthwhile purchase, and I'm a huge Scrubs fan so will probbaly never stop watching it. On the bright side, Season 7 (as short as it was through the writers strike) is much much better, which gives me hope for Season 8, (not sure about 9, would the show be the same with the actors playing J.D. and Carla leaving?)

If you like watching animals in a circus, or shut up in a pet shop window with nowhere to run or play with inadequate water or ventilation, and you think "aren't puppies cute" and don't think about pet farms etc, then this film is for you.

What is so exquisite about Sleeping Beauty is that it looks like a medieval tapestry coming to life. If you look closely at the details in the backgrounds you can see little twists in the leaves and curves in the tree bark which overall gives an ornate and opulent look still refreshing to this day. It was the most expensive film in it's day, it took over four years to make and Walt Disney stated to his artists and animators that they should take their time over it, make it beautiful and so it came as a shock when it didn't do all that well in the cinemas. It wasn't really able to communicate to an american youth who were smoking things they shouldn't and it seemed this highly romantic film was too idealistic in it's portrayal of young love, it felt as if it should have ... The film started with an interesting plot... Nim and her father are living alone on an island when one day her father takes a trip out on his boat and gets lost at sea. Nim asks for help by emailing her favourite author Alex Rover (Jodie Foster). Alex Rover who is scared of everything sets out to save the day with the help of her favourite self-imagined adventure character. This was executed well and acted brilliantly by Jodie Foster. What lets the film down though is the way the ending seems rushed, the father returns too quickly at the end. The film focuses only on the journey and not at all on the destination. It would have been nice for Alex and Nim to have some sort of adventure together and explore that relationship more thoroughly ... Read More:

i bought this for my 2 year old son who likes thomas ,pingu,fireman sam etc, he loves it and watches it over and over, he is mesmorised by its simplicity, the music cardboard cut outyness and niceness of it all is also pleasant for my wife and i too as its the only thing we can listen to for 2 hours and stay sane, it really is good and a shame there arent any more, i am sure anyone who buys it will be delighted.one of the best value items here.

This is an excellent series with true BBC investigation and great contribution from experts and people that lived during the times that some of the programs refer to. It is definitely worthwhile buying and watching the whole series and it gives many hours of entertainment at a very good price. I actually think that buying the 3 series in one box is a great advantage and worth the extra money as you can not get enough of it.Great value! Please go ahead and buy all 3 and you will enjoy it for sure!!

I miised this when it was originally on. I don't know how or why as it screams for watching by anyone that's ever been a gleefully geeky type into the sci-fi/fantasy genres that this often references. The series is excellent. Nothing lets it down. The characters are well realised, the dialogue is spot on, the humour can be a mix of subtle references, situational funnies, and glorious explosions of banter. This DVD set is also a winner. Like with the Shain of the Dead/Hot Fuzz DvD's, they show a love of the medium. There's options and options, all wrapped up in evocative UI's. This also has an idle mode that is worth letting run a while too.

This film is ok, the acting was quite poor and the story line a little non existent but on the whole it's watchable. Jamie Winstone is great in it. Don't watch it if you don't understand the youths of today's lingo as the whole film contains it. Apart from that I'd watch it again.... on a rainy day!
