I suppose Im in the minority group who hated this film. Seriosly this is very dull and boring. Nothing seemed to happen in it whatsoever. As for Renee Zellwegger, you would have thought her to have been great in it after seeing her in Bridget Jones wouldnt you? Wrong. She does nothing for this film at all. She couldnt carry it through, her acting was all wierd. But I had to sit through and watch this rubbish with my family, who surprisingly all liked it and praised Renee Zellwegger for her fantastic performance. I was like what the hell are u talking about?? Anyway, I have since given this DVD away to my friend who liked it but then she loves Rene Zellewgger, so that kept her happy!

If you are British you must see this film. If you are young you must see this film. If you once were young you must see this film again. Unlike the rest of us Travis never got old, never lost his certainty, never compromised. Lyndsay Anderson, thank you for this film. I saw it first when I was 17. I can find no flaw at the age of 50. It is deeply observant, fiercely subversive and as relevant now in 2008 as it was in 68. Look at it and see 2 decades of movie moments that this film inspired. Seminal is the critical description and it is true. See with Kes and it's like an ultrasound photo of modern Britain. An important film from when they made important films.

This whole series is fantastic, the thinking behind the minature killer is brilliant. The extras on the DVD give you a really interesting insight into how it is all made. The cliff hanger is fantastic, so much so I had to buy the Series 8 Part 1 the day it was released!

Now every now and again we get people saying what a great TV series they have seen and this was one of the ones I was asked to watch.

Now sceptical as I was to think that a drama about a Manchester Family and its neighbours on the Chatsworth Estate and their exploits could be enjoyable but how wrong I was. The Gallagher Family and its neighbours are a real joy. Each episode picks on one member of the family (with the others interwoven) and it goes from better to better. I will ask that you at least give it three episodes to get to know the family and when you do you will be hooked.

The basis of the family is Frank the father is a drop out of the first degree but is ever the philisopher, he spends his day drunk or stoned ... Read More:

Yes it is delightful in quality and so well told. But the film itself never says anything like "We shouldn't be here (in Africa)." like the fan and critic on the extras tells us. So this war adventure could have gone seriously wrong and then there hardly would be a fight-glorifying film. But beautifully made in the details. When two soldiers are sent up on a hill, then something else happens and after that in another scene you see in the distance that they are now halfway up. That creates a believable flow I enjoy in movies.

The film was shot in Super Technirama 70, that is 35mm horizontal (like our "old" 135 photography) with a squeeze for 70mm printing 1:2,2, so it has a larger negative and better quality and it SHOULD look better or at ... Read More:

I watched some of the episodes the first time round but kept on forgetting it was on each week. Have recently found it being repeated by accident a couple of weeks ago after watching Desperate Housewives. Both my son (17) and I (46) were in stitches and crying with laughter. can't wait to watch the episode with the car - as it reminded me of my son starting his driving lessons!! and am soooo looking forward to watching the episodes I haven't yet seen

When I heard that Simon Doonan's book had been turned into a mini-series and set in the 90s instead of the 60s I was a little concerned. After watching it, all fears of it being misplaced were gone, and I was left wanting more. I won't bore you with the plot, as that has been covered more than adequately by the DVD description above, but the stamp of quality that the creators and writers of Gimme Gimme Gimme, Absolutely Fabulous and Beautiful Thing bring to this production are to be seen everywhere.

The casting could not have been improved upon, with an hysterical cameo by Brenda Fricker as Gran (or Narg - the backwards version awarded her). The two young leads (Luke Ward-Wilkinson & Layton Williams) are extraordinary in their complete command ... Read More:

I've just finished watching Season 5 and have to say this was one of the best seasons for me, since Season 1 and 2 (which are still my favorites). Characters come and go, and some missed more than others, but the series goes on in strength, and there's never a dull moment on the estate. Great comedy TV for the open-minded adult.

Everyone tells of how season 2 fails to compare to season 1 and 3, and I have to agree it was not as good! So why do I still give it 5 stars then? Well..... seasons 1 & 3 were easily at least 7 stars!!
An extremely watchable show, and I may have to buy the boxsets again as my constant watching of the DVDs has made the box very sruffy and bent!

When Omar Shariff enters as a speck on the horizon it takes him five minutes to reach the foreground. Letting a match burn down to his fingers, Peter o'Toole explains, "the secret is not to mind it hurting."
Every frame of this movie, the greatest ever, stays in your mind's eye.

What can I say about this 7 Oscar winner of 1962 that the other reviewers haven't said already? This is a wonderful film and a great epic that was directed by David Lean (Ryan's Daughter, Brief Encounter), he is probably one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and most of his films have some of the best cinematography you have ever seen taking advantage of the landscape. In Lawrence of Arabia there is a breathtaking shots of the desert; the musical score is also amazing ... Read More:
