In response to Johnny S's comment about this series I would just like to say that I don't believe it is in the same league as Curb Your Enthusiasm. In fact I believe it to be far better than the American programme, this is probably one of the best comedies to come out of Britain in years. Jack Dee is in my opinion the best stand up comedian out there and this series has shown what a genius he is.

I don't know how this compares to CSI, since I've watched very few episodes, but, in the UK anyway, typical crime shows like The Bill are very predictable and as mentioned in the title- boring. This is defintely worth the buy, and if you're reading this review, and thinking it's a bit pricey, (which I think in comparison, it's priced modestly, and I expected the box set to cost in the region of 40 pounds) it comes with 22 ~40 minute episodes. I don't know if I need to get out more, but the last time I bought a box set it was LOST: Season One, for about 40 pounds, and it had no were near that many episodes(or I enjoyed it a lot, like this, since I honestly would say it had about 10 if I didn't count each one :P).
I must admit, I watched all ... Read More:

Ok i'll admit, i didn't watch this when it aired on TV - had all intentions of doing so though, but just never did.

God did i miss out, i seen the end of an episode from season 2 on E4 the other day - i was glued. Obviously didn't know who was who and what was what but it was great from the 10 mins i did see.

I already like Calista Flockhart from Ally McBeal (One of my favourite US series EVER - Brothers and Sisters now being next on the list) and i also liked Sally Field from Mrs. Doubtfire and E.R and she plays a fantastic part as Nora - for what i have seen, i only bought it the other day.

I have watched some more and i am hooked, it is realistic, genuine, funny, and dramatic - all in all GREAT!

All I can say is that this programme is brilliant. I have just purchased season 4 from the UK and totally enjoyed every episode. Well acted, well written with good story lines. All I want now is season 5 to become available. How long are going to have to wait? Not too long I hope.

I watched this with my 11 and 6 year olds and they loved it
and so did they're friends, it was just OK to me but the film
isn't made for adults is it?

I see all the bad comments and ratings here are by adults or
older teenagers, thats not fair on the film as the ones who
enjoy it don't get their say and if they did this would be
5 star material all the way.

It's colourful, magical and a sugary sweet tale, very entertaining.
I won't go into film detail as others have done this before me.

It's a very nice film for children (a movie the family can watch together).

A lot stupid, a little boring, mostly bizare... ok, sometimes you buy a film that is bad - however, I am more disappointed in wasting the time watching it. I kept thinking there must be something interesting or it would have to get better....NOT.

And once again, little old Jacobi is back to the charge with the promise of
more yuks and huyuks than ever in the rip-roaring, funtastic,
abso-bloody-lutely awesome series, Cadfael -- well, not really.

And I might as well say "well" with the good ole Jacobian emphasis (try
WE-e-E-elll), as we're in for more Jacobian smirks than ever, ranging from the
sad, beady eyes of a French bulldog to the glittery expression of a Lutheran
heretic centuries before his time.

So, may we say that Cadfael ranks among the greatest British series of all
time? Let's have a closer look...

I - Elementary, my dear Oswin...

I somewhere heard someone comparing Cadfael to Sherlock Holmes -- God ... Read More:

I have all the New Tricks volumes and this keeps up the standard of the others. The acting is wonderful and the stories a mixture of light comedy and serious plot. So why oh why did the producers need to put in the backgound music - the single key piano playing, and synthesised violin trying to create pathos? It is just not necessary and in fact spoils the viewing when you become aware of it. Apart from that it is brilliant

As my title suggests I'm in two minds about this film, if you consider the pacing, narrative, special effects and the overall purpose of the film, it isn't very good but I do appreciate its themes and the cinematography and the overall atmosphere that is created.

Carter never liked to do what was expected of him, he tended to follow his own intuitions and it worked for the series making them fresh, interesting and utterly compelling, allowing them to run for so long and have such a devoted fan base. I'm one of those fans, I love the series and appreciated where it was left in the last episode; the date was set, the invasion inevitable, the FBI was overrun with alien agents and our two heroes were on the run. The series was driven by more than just Scully's ... Read More:

I was told how great this film was by a few people prior to watching it. So it was with great anticipation that I fed it into my DVD player and started it up. I was really hoping I would marvel at this film and be spellbound by it. It started well with Daniel Day Lewis trapped in a mine shaft after falling and breaking his leg and I thought 'I'm going to enjoy this'. But then, I just didn't. Well, that's a slight lie, I did like it, just didn't love it. Out of the two films released at the same time to Oscar fanfare I much preferred the Coens No Country For Old Men. It may be that this film was a little slow paced, which isn't a bad thing at all (see my review of The Assasination of Jesse James) but in this setting it just didn't capture my imagination. Maybe I need to watch ... Read More:
