I would agree with those who say that this season is not as good as the early Sorkin ones, but it is still far better than most of the programs on T.V. It is therefore definitely worth buying, especially for only £17.

The casting in this season continues to be excellent. Santos (Jimmy Smits) and Vinnick (Alan Alda), the main candidates for the democratic and republican nominations, are excellent throughout. The writers and actors manage to make you care about these new story-lines, an impressive feat in season 6 of any series.

The beginning of the season seems to be struggling with these multiple story-lines, however, slipping into a fairly dire structure whereby the President takes up alternate episodes and the nomination ... Read More:

Its hard to think of anything negative about these two excellent films (not going to repeat the story again-there are plenty of reviews here). However its worth noting that the slowness in the pace of these films mirrors the lives and setting of the characters portraid within. If you have the time (4 hours) and patience you see the story unfolding rather than punching you in the face! The ending is one of the best, in that it is unexpected and jaw dropping. Ignore the negativity from other reviews, pseudo experts who hint but fail to suggest of better, buy them and see for yourself, it will be money well spent

Whilst this probably isn't the best western ever made its certainly up there amongst the top flight. It was fortunately made a few years before 'A Fistful of Dollars', which changed westerns and what was expected from them.

Take the classic Kurosawa film 'Seven Samurai' (which is given its due in the opening credits) and reinvent it in the American west. Then add the staggeringly good cast of Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Eli Wallach, James Coburn and Robert Vaughan and what you have is a near perfect piece of Cinema. Some of these guys (like McQueen) were not the bigshots they would later become, but they are incredibly cool. Just a look is enough for these actors. For example, James Coburn hardly says a word throughout the film, and he has ... Read More:

I love CSI Miami. While the others in the franchise (Las Vegas and New York) have both long since reached their plateau of interest and jumped off the other side into entertainment freefall, Miami continues ever upwards to greater heights almost unchallenged.

Why is it so much better than the others though? Well for a start they've only really bothered to tweak the formula with this one and so there is much more action in a typical 'Miami' episode that an entire series of 'NY'.

But for the most part it is the appallingly bad acting by David Caruso that makes this show so damned watchable!

Taken straight from Joey from Friends "smell the fart" school of method acting, he can almost always be seen, hands on hips, side on to the person he's ... Read More:

I don't tend to follow award nominations, as they can be very pretentious. However, at this price, I thought to give it a try. I have to say I was not disappointed! I remember something of this regime on television as I was growing up, but did not know much about it. This film had a compelling story, outstanding acting, and a great insight into African politics and the British involvement. This I found to be quite different to most films, in the fact that the 'hero' of this story is more of an anti-hero, who is only the hero as he is less bad than the bad guy. Excellent story based on real history, a must view!

At once more ambitious and less intriguing than its predecessor, Elizabeth: The Golden Age certainly isn't the abject disaster reviewers claimed on its theatrical release, although it's not nearly as engrossing as the original. Unfortunately, while Shekhar Kapur opens up the action and opts for a much lighter palate this time round, with at least a trailer's worth of striking visuals, the results are not particularly compelling. By focusing on the best-known part of the Virgin Queen's reign there's less of the constant sense of danger that marked its predecessor even though it amps up the threat by pitting her not against her own court but the might of the Spanish Empire and its Armada. Yet, being a sequel, it adheres to the `the same but different,' and there's certainly a strong ... Read More:

A walk to remember has got to be one of the best teen movies of all time, although I will be very suprised if you won't need a tissue. The story revolves around Landon Carter(Shane West)someone who is going no where fast, the local bad boy. Jamie Sulliven(Mandy Moore)is the minister's daughter and as far from the in-crowd as she could possibly get; especially in contrast to Landon. They have never really got on but when they repeatedly spend time together it alters their lives forever.

A fascinating late 60s English film chronicling the exploits of a privileged Chelsea girl who, having grown tired of the Sloane Square set, seeks adventure just over the other side of the river in (what was then) down-at-heel Battersea. How times change!

The reason for the five stars is, for me, the way it captures quite a pivotal point in London history, heading as it was towards the peak of its late 60s swinging fabulousness, and for the fact that it was one of the few movies of the period to deal quite matter-of-factly with issues like teenage pregnancy, abortion, sex out of marriage, domestic violence and all the other things which these days are de rigueur. Also, it wasn't that long ago, but my god HOW long ago it was - everyone drink ... Read More:
