My daughter loves Barney and so when this one came out, I bought it for her. I found that the beginning had been doctored to show some very posh English children getting ready for an "ad ven chah" but it then changed to the American stage show. The running time is quite long on this so keeps them busy for a while. It does get quite boring for the adults as it is basically just a live show, taped on stage somewhere with not much variation. The children have fixed smiles and loud confident voices which pitch up at the end. But what can I say - my 2 year old loves him.

this DVD has a ***** rating from many reviewers but we found it very poor. (1) the sound quality is bad, sometimes it is distorted ("ss" in particular) and sometimes important sounds are inaudible the final "b" in "herb" for example. (2) as the letters are presented, each one is named "BEE CEE DEE" and then after some music the phonetic sound of the letter is given. This is very confusing for the child who first repeates one sound for the letter then another. (3) the words that the child is invited to 'read' are often words with non-phonteic pronunciations. On Saturday mornings my 6 year old daughter pulls out her yoga mat and turns on Yoga Kids. She's able to follow along and is really proud of herself. It took her a few times of watching it before she really was able to do all the moves, but she loves the DVD. She told me today that there was only one adult in the DVD and it was all kids doing the moves, which really impressed her. I highly recommend this DVD.
