I was watching a different film on the long flight back from New Zealand but could see EIGHT BELOW on the screen of the man sitting in the row infront of me. I kept being distracted from my film and found myself squinting between the seats and watching the beautiful Huskies and the fantasic scenery on the screen infront, even without sound it looked a fantastic film so when the man finished watching it, I asked him what it was. I then searched for it on my screen, found it and sat spellbound watching it. It's full of hardship, hope and triumph over adversity, one of those sad but happy films that keeps your attention til the end, and you definately need a tissue handy. When it ended, I just watched it all over again, and when I got home it was ... Read More:

There is very little I can add to the many favourable reviews this classic Dynamic Duo adventure has already received here on Amazon. This is the Batman I remember from my early teens, and will always be the real thing as far as I'm concerned!

Unless I have missed it, none of the other reviewers have mentioned the sad fact that when it comes to Adam West and Burt Ward this film is pretty much it! No sign of any of the 120 TV episodes on DVD is to be found here, or even in the U.S., nor any mention of why that might be.

The simple explanation seems to be the fact that Warner Brothers own the rights to the Batman characters whilst Fox own the actual programmes themselves! Various websites give a more detailed explanation, but ... Read More:

I've never read the books, so I was watching this with absolutely no expectations on that score. I got the impression it was about dragons and the decline of wizards and so on. However, it also became clear that for a film about a mystical world full of wonder, it sure kinda skimped on the magic. And plotline.

The main character totally reminded me of Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion. He had that whole Emo Boy routine going for him. It really annoyed me that the consequences of his crime was never really addressed. Gee, wouldn't there be like a WHOLE kingdom of people out looking for him? And why the heck did he do it in the first place? And what's with that weird berserker rage anyway?

This film left me with a whole lot of questions ... Read More:

DVD : Lady And The Tramp (2 Disc Special Edition) [1955]
I regard Lady and The Tramp as one the best Disney classics that I have watched. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this classic. Disney has delivered a masterpiece with this fine piece of animation feature length.

Lady and The Tramp truly reflects the key values and qualities of what Disney films entail, which include endless humour, uplifting music and colourful characters. The storyline is a sweet romantic tale about two loveable dogs; a Lady (Spaniel) and Tramp (Irish terrier) and the innocence of this special bonding is something to really admire. The setting of the movie is based in the 1950's, which is beautifully delivered with wonderful animation you can highly praise within that specific time. With technology highly available today and scarce within those ... Read More:

Children of the Stones is a classic example of edgy and thought-provoking drama aimed at young people but intelligent enough to appeal to everyone. Its compelling plot and eerie atmosphere places COTS firmly up there with the likes of the marvellous Owl Service and Noah's Castle. Furthermore, set against the hugely evocative backdrop of the Avebury stone circle (and a few shots around West Kennet long barrow and Silbury hill) and with such accomplished actors as Gareth Thomas and the masterful Iain Cuthbertson, COTS is an uniquely satisfying experience.

I loved it when I first watched it as a young teenager and loved it today!

All seven episodes are presented in excellent picture quality and clear, but obviously mono, sound. The soundtrack includes some ... Read More:

I really didn't like this film. I found it a bit boring and overall a bit too cheesy. It was a disappointment because the book was so good. Usually if I like a film, I watch it more than once but this one I really didn't want to see it again. I would rather read the book again. Maybe this film just wasn't my cup of tea, it may be good for other people.

I have had the great fortune of watching both at a young age - the balloon story is beautifully done (as is the white mane) and very thought provoking. I will not spoil the story of the balloon but will say that the tender age of about 12 i had to go through quite a few tissues at the end. After watching this film I made friends with every balloon I was given at parties etc, just in the vain hope that mine would be as special!
The White Mane obviously appealed to me, being a typical horsey mad girl, but the relationship between the boy and the horse is magical. Buy both, I am now its on Amazon!
