First of all my wife asked me to pen this, she is new to Pilates and was advised to buy this, being mature she found it hard and felt you should not be allone while doing the exersise, The DVD is in the charity shop and she goes to classes only now, she adds it must be her age(retired a while)

Be warned - the format is not dvd, it has more in common with video. So the teaching part is a single section and you have to run through it again and again to find the form that you want to focus on. Any benefit derived from the dvd will be outweighed by the frustration of trying to locate a particular section.

This is certainly a yoga DVD with a difference and I just love it! The matrix is a brilliant idea it allows you to devote as long or as little as you like and if like me with demanding kids and a busy schedule - this is the right one for you. Shiva Rea has gone all out to create such a beautiful DVD in such a unique setting and a great soundtrack - I definitely recommend it!

I know a fair few people have been reasonably disparaging about the workout in this video, but I wholeheartedly disagree. When I got home from holiday about six weeks ago, I got on the scales and realised that I had managed to pile on weight. I undertook a calorie controlled diet (roughly 1500 calories per day - give or take a bit) and bought this video. I remember the day after the first time I did it - I was in so much discomfort I could hardly move - it was a real eye-opener as to how unfit I actually was!! The dvd is fine, but the moves are slightly boring after a while,quite repetitive and dated. On the good side, she explains clearly where you are going next so you don't get lost.

I am a 50+ grandma, with an ongoing history of back/joint problems and a dislike of "the gym". Although fitter and slimmer than some my age, I realised my overall fitness level had been markedly deteriorating and I needed to do more, despite walking and cycling regularly. Rosemary's box set has been my salvation and, after just two months of exercising for about one hour, five times a week, I am supple and can actually see my muscles toning up week on week. My family are amazed at the difference in me. This set provides a choice of workouts for all levels but is particularly mindful of those beginning this sort of exercise and those with the need for low impact exercise. I cannot recommend this set enough. Thank you to Rosemary and her teams of "real" people!

I've been doing exercise videos as a core part of my keep fit routine for about 15 years, and I would definatley rate the Firm DVDs I have got (4 in total - including this one) as the best of the bunch. I am a mum to a toddler, have a long commute, a stressful job and am renovatting a house and garden, so I want something that deliver results in the shortest time possible. I find the combination of weights and cardio makes me work hard, I sweat, and have noticed the difference it makes to my body very quickly. the instructors are proper professionals, and although the shiny, bright white smiles are a little cheesy that is a tiny nit-pick in what are otherwise great DVDs. I'm a convert and am looking to buy more - though am struggling to find the DVDS ... Read More:

I have just ordered the DVD, but the video is excellent! It really does work. You must follow the work out and use it regularly, every day if you can for three months, then as you can. At least three times per week. Every day revitalizes you with energy, you lose inches, and gain shape. Very, very good with Radu.

I have been a fan of Kristen's yoga videos for some time, owning both of the MTV Yoga DVDs presented by her, but I was hugely disappointed by this edition to the range. There is no doubt that Kristen is inspiring and fresh in her approach, but I felt that there was little explanation to the philosophies of Pilates - 'zipping' the pelvic floor, visualisation of subtle yet precise movements, breathing etc - and therefore could pose a risk to those unaccustomed to the practise. I have been practising Pilates for a number of years on and off, and have come from a dance background so have more than average awareness of posture, alignment and core stability, but nevertheless I felt there was little or no attention to the possible pitfalls of exercises. I have found this particular Barbara Currie dvd a real gem, I have also used 'Total Body Plan' and the 'Seven Secrets of Yoga' but prefer the sequences in this dvd. They are neatly compacted into 20ish minute slots and are linked by what they do for your body and well being. I have to confess I am a fan of Barbara! I have been practising yoga with her dvds for four years now and it has undoubtedly benefitted my life, making me feel calmer and more at ease. I have never strained or pulled a muscle and have instead made slow and steady progress and I would definitely recommend it!
