The opening scene, on i presume the Yorkshire Moors, will be with me forever. This is a classic film with a blend of humour and horror neatly rolled into one. The special effects were cutting edge at the time.

I can't believe it's more than twenty five years old. Quick, get me a wheelchair !!

This is far superior to the first movie and to any other adaptation since. I can never decide what is best... following Uncle Festers storyline or the kids at camp, but why settle when the two merge so well in this easily quoted sequel.

Every line is a classic, and watching it again when your old enough to 'get' all the jokes that flew by you as a kid makes you appreciate it more.

If you were a fan as a child, buy it. If you have children of your own who have not seen it... MAKE THEM :) they will thank you.

It is such a shame the dvd has no commentary or anything interesting on it. I have hoped for a better release but the movie itself is worth more than any extras... still it would be nice.

Strange things are happening over at the Kingdom Hospital. Ghosts, brain surgeons and a giant ant eater star in this weird and wonderful series. The ending is a bit lame but I had so much fun watching the rest of the episodes that it doesn't really matter. The characters are great, some you will love and some you will love to hate. I'm not sure exactly how Stephen King was involved, as his touch is not really that apparent to me. The show is more on the sci-fi/fantasy side of things and is not just supernatural horror.
I haven't watched the original version yet, but I hope to get my hands on it soon.

As diehard fans of the novel will recognise, so much has been left out of the film it is barely comprehensible. The Freniere family? the musician? I believe also that Lestat was not portrayed as the truly malevolent creature he is meant to be. Then again, whether this was due to the casting and/or acting is irrelevant. No one could possibly expose the true nature of Lestat for the sake of a film. If they could then it would probably be banned!

Minus the small inccorections i.e. Louis loosing the will to live over the death of his 'young family' instead of his brother and Claudia being depicted as a child of nearly 10 years old when she was actually around 4 or 5 in the book, i suppose this film needs to be appreciated on its own merits. I suppose ... Read More:

In the 1970's and early to mid 1980's nobody directed like John Carpenter.

Sadly Hollywood, massive budgets and studios wrecked his talent to produce films like no one else.

I would place this film in his top 4 along with Halloween, Escape from New York and Assault on precinct 13.

The film creates a felling of isolation in the barren snow covered landscape. The acting is fine; the effects still look great and in my opinion look better then CGI. The music score really creates an atmosphere of doom as the characters are whittled down.

This is an amazing film buy it now.

5 Stars.

Incredibly inventive movie which takes you into a whole other world and captivates you with the haunting guitar strings, Scottish Brogues and wistful but dark intensions.

Following up a report of the disappearance of a young girl called Rowan Morrison, the religious innocent and level-headed Sergeant Howie goes to a small remote Island in Scotland known as Summerisle. When he arrives, his presence is made to feel most unwelcome by the locals and their hospitality is somewhat questionable.

As he further investigates the island, he becomes more and more aware that something is not quite right; the villagers stories of having never heard of the missing girl despite evidence proving otherwise seem to contradict each other, and Howie begins ... Read More:

Heather O' Rourke's final film and it could have been special had it not been for the occasionally dire acting and dialogue. The man who plays Henry Kane is not the same moist ugly dude from the second film and there is nothing creepy other than the fact they have tried to make him look creepy by sticking plastercene on his face. Some FX are simple but very spooky the scene where Carol Anne is being pulled into the puddle is impressive. And some mirror scenes are well done too however this remains the weakest link but deserves credit as Heather O'Rourke was a great little actress and delivered a truly charming and sweet performance once again.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the great horror movies.

Filmed in the 70's on a shoe string budget it comes across as it is meant to as a grimy and sleazy shocker.

The usual bad acting in places doesn't matter one bit as you get drawn in knowing you are watching one of cinemas legendary films. It will shock you how little blood is actually shown on the film.

This is a fantastic edition with some amazing extras and the steel book looks great. I just hope that they have now covered everything and this is the last run.

5 Stars and please no 8 disc mega definitive edition next year.

I disagree with those who think this "remake" as a dull film. What they expected to see ? A godfather film ?
This was a typical horror film which has a certain atmosphere beautiful chicks and suspense especially in the last 30 minutes which is a usual thing for a typical horror movie.
Sure we saw these things before from other horror movies and the killings were not shown entirely that's why i remove 2 stars BUT i think it deserves 3 stars at least and a chance to be in your horror dvd collection together with the early 4 PN films.

Hostel 1 = this movie received a lot of press before its release. I watched it in the cinema, and now I realise that all the shameless plugging of this mindless drivel such as this movie, is a marketing (business) ploy.

For example Quentin Tarrantino and his studio (Miramax) are calling the director Eli Roth (Cabin Fever & Hostel) the new Hollywood wunderkind.
This is true, of course.

He can certainly make extremely bad movies, and he is good at it!!!!! Some wunderkid

HOSTEL is a movie of two halves. During the first half we follow a group of American backpackers around Amsterdam's Red light district.
And then, during the second part of the movie, the boys happen upon a sick racket that offers victims for torture and murder to ... Read More:
